Mr. Gehr presented a request for a curb cut at Northwest 5th and Pearl Streets and moved said request be granted, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr presented the final payment for the Surface Water Drainage, Section D. George F. Konetsky Construction Company 4/5,882.60 Henry Steeg and Associates 56.03 Mr. Gehr moved the above claims be allowed, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. The Board discussed the problem that will exist when school opens this fall. The Richmond Community School has requested that the City should provide a crossing guard _ on Chester Boulevard to protect the school children that have to cross said boulevard to go to the new Crestdale School. Mayor Cordell stated that there will be a meeting to discuss this matter with Mr. Garrison before further action is taken. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Keller. The following business was had to-wit: . Mr. Keller moved the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. , Yr. Burl Eddy, of the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Richmond, Indiana, appeared before the Board in behalf of said organization. A request was made for permission to place a line on the sidewalk on the south side of Main Street from 8th Street east to 9th Street, one in the Eastgate Shopping Center and one in the Richmond Plaza Shopping Center during July 22nd and 23rd, 1966 to promote the Mile of Dimes campaign. ;the proceeds from this campaign is to go toward the purchase of cigarettes for men and . women serving in the Armed Services in Viet Nam. Chief Stultz said there would be no objection from his department. Mr. Keller moved the request be granted, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Street Commissioner Burelison presented the tabulation of bids received for a Dump Truck on the ll4.th day of July, 1966. HM550OV $3,200.00 Net Fred First, Inc. 1 - 1967 F-600 3,317.63 Net Mr. Burelison stated that he had gone over the bids and it is believed that the International Yodel 1600 has a bumper that will better serve during the winter months and also has what is called an Anti-Rust Treatment. The cab and all other sheet metal is of heavy gauge steel that is thoroughly cleaned and coated with microcrystatline zinc phosphate before painting. The falnerable under-door rocker panels and extra front ends area-grille radiator panels and fender caps are made of zinc coated steel which defies the formation and spread of rust even if exposed to moisture and salt air. With these two factors in mind, Mr. Burelison recommended the bid of the Vivian Buick in the sum of $3,400.00 net. Mr. Gehr moved the Board sign the Acceptance of Proposal, as Contract of the Vivian Buick, Inc. This motion was seconded by Mr. - Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Keith Brown and five other residents of Berry Field appeared before the Board to discuss the problem of children in the Berry Field area getting across U.S. 27 to the Crestdale School this fall. Mayor Cordell stated that there is a meeting planned with a representative of the Indiana State Highway July 22, 1966 to discuss this problem with the Board and Traffic Division. This group is invited to attend this meeting. No committments were made by the Board at this time until the meeting is held and. discussion of the problem is aired with the State Highway representatives. Painting of parking stalls in the1800 block of North "E" Street, 1st block North 16th Street and the 1500 block of East Main Street. These stalls would enable a better control of parking in the above mentioned areas. A request has been made by the Connersville, Indiana drivers. improvement school to be held July 26th and 27th for Captain Stout's services. Mr. Keller moved that Capt ain Stout be granted permission to go to Connersville on the dates set out. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr presented a request to cut the curb at 338 SI. 16th Street owned by Mr. Guy • Nothern for a driveway. Mr. Gehr moved this request be granted, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried.
