The following letter was received and made a record of this meeting by motion
made by Mir. Gehr and seconded by Mr. Keller and carried on voice vote:

Dear Chief:
We are pleased to report that the 1966 Fire Department Instructors Conference
was the most outstanding in our long history.
Your presentation was one of the more popular program items and you certainly
did an outstanding job in putting it over. Many people in the audience were
interested in what you were going to say and shortly after you started you had- the
rest of them with you.
IIIWe realize that you have a busy schedule and to do such a fine job present-
- ing your subject at FDIC required much time and work, this makes us all the more
annreciative of what you did for us.
If we can ever be of service to you or your fine department we hone you will
not hesitate to call on us.
I want you to know that I really appreciate the .membershin in the Indiana
Instructors.

Fire Department Instructors Converence -
Mayor Cordell reported that all Departments of the City were to be complimented
on the way the Lions State Convention was handled during the period of April 29,30
and May 1, 1966.
Mayor Cordell also presented a certificate of appreciation to all the citizens
of Richmond and Wayne County by the Lions Club of Richmond, Inc. for the invaluable
services and cooperation extended during Indiana State Lions Convention. Mayor
Cordell stated that he received the certificate on the 4th day of May, 1966 and
requested that the same be made a record of this meeting. Mr. Gehr moved the request
be granted,_ seconded by Mr. Keller and on v oic e vote was carried.
There being no further business presented on motion my made, seconded and
- carried the meeting adjourned.

BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS END SAFETY OF THE •
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 12, 1966
• The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met' in
regular session in the City Hall in said City Thursday, May 12, 1966 at the hour of
9:00 o'clock a.m. (est) . Mr. Jameson presiding with the following member being
present: Mr. Gehr. Mr. Keller he irg absent. The following business was had to-wit:
Mr: Gehr moved the minutes of the meeting of May 5, 1966 be corrected as follows:
' The curb cut request that was granted on Southl8th Street as requested by the Franchise
Realty Corporation of Indiana should read that Mr. Gehr's motion to grant said curb
cut request was seconded by Mr. Jameson instead of Mr. Keller and was carried by 2-1
vote. Mr. Keller voting nay.
Also the Engineer's estimate for_, I.R. No. 1073-1966 should read the sum of
$3,515.00 instead of :3,315.00. . . '
With the above corrections made, Mr. .Gehr moved the minutes be dispensed with,
seconded by Mr. Jameson and on v oice vote was carried. ,
Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Jameson and on
voice vote was carried.
Er. Burelison, Street Commissioner, presented the actual costs for sidewalk repairs
' for 1965 to be $7,509.29 and the actual charge to the City Parking Meter Department
0,516.54.
III Mr. Burelison also reported that the large door at the garage should be replaced
with a new one . He was authorized to get quotations for a new door and submit any
received at the next meeting.
Mr. James B. Dudas, Assistant Treasurer of the First.Federal Savings and Loan
Association, appeared before the Board and reported that there has been considerable
damage done to the side of said Association Building located at North 9th and Sailor
Streets by large trucks making their turn from 9th Street onto Sailor Street. It is
Mr. Dudas opinion that if permission was given by this Board to install a guard railing
running the length of the building L feet in height, it would prevent this damage. Mr.
• Dudas also asked that Sailor Street, from North 9th to North 8th Streets, be posted
"No Parking At Anytime" and that the same be enforced. This matter was referred to
the Traffic Division for study and recommendation.
• T he Richmond Cab Company's hearing was postponed until Thursday, May 19, 1966 due
to Mr.'Keller not being present and also to give time for the Traffic Division to
• .investigate to find if there is evidence of said Cab Company of ordering new vehicles
as was reported.

• Councilman Hollingsworth filed a complaint of Junk Cars in the yard at 322 North
16th and also the complaint of wood being stacked high in the yard of 401 North 16th
Street. These complaints were referred to the Police Department to check and report.
Chief Stultz presented a letter from Police Chief Wright of Anderson, Indiana . •
requesting the services of Sergeant Gibbs to show the training slide "To Shoot or Not .
To Shoot" at a training school for recruits that is being held the week of May 16,1966,
Mr. Gehr moved that the Chief send Sergeant Gibbs as requested, seconded. by Mr. Jameson
and on voice vote was carried. "
Captain Stout reported that the sum of $811.47 is needed to have all Municipal
Parking Lots equipped with proper signs as to the new time limits. Mr. Gehr moved that
Captain Stout be authorized to purchase the signs in the amount of $811.4.7, seconded by -
Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried.
Captain Stout requested permission to spend $20.00 for paint -to repaint all the
Municipal Lot Parking Meters. Mr. Gehr moved the request be granted, seconded by Mr. 111
Jameson and on voice vote was carried.
The painting of parking stalls on the lots and•streets was postponed for another
week.
Mr. !Gehr+. presented a request to cut the curb at 604 Abington Pike for a driveway
as requested by Mr. Thurman Stoner. Mr. Gehr moved this request be granted, seconded'
by Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried. -
Mr. Jameson presented Estimate No. 3139 Street Lighting on Liberty Avenue from
South "Q" to City Limits.

Mr. Gehr moved that the Clerk be authorized to re-advertise for bids- to improve
the alley between Pearl and Lincoln Streets from- N.W. 3rd to N.W. 4th Streets as pro-
vided in I.R. No. 1073-1966 and further the date of June 9, 1966 at the hour of 10:O0
o'clock a.m. (est) be set to receive bids. Mr. Jameson seconded this motion and on
voice vote was carried.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and
carried the meeting adjourned . -
