Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vofe was carried. Mr. Atkinson and Mr. Goens of the Health and Sanitation Department were present and reported that there are several "junk" cars in various locations in the city that have been stripped of wheels and can be moved only by-having special equipment such as a wrecker. The junk dealers will not haul the cars to their yards but will • accept them if delivered. The Mayor stated thathe will see that the equipment is furnishedpand anyone wishing to have a junk car hauled away, should call his office. The owner should give w ttten permission to remove the car. - There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting adjourned. • Henry A. Reeg, C rk BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMaJD•, INDIANA, APRIL 28, 1966 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the City Hall in said City, Thursday, April 28, 1966 at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. (est) . Mr. Jameson residing with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr. Mr. Keller being absent. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of April 21, 1966 be dispensed -with, seconded by Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr mo ed the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried. The Board granted permission to Captain Walter Stout to assist Mr. H. E. Rhodes, Safety Director of United Farm Bureau Insurance Company with some classes scheduled with Farm Bureau women at Connersville, Indiana May 9, 10, 16 and 17, 1966. Fire Chief Fredricks recommended that a fire hydrant be installed at sore location On Toddsbury Lane in the Colonial Village to serve as fire protection as requested by residents of this area. Mr. Gehr moved that the recommendation of the Fire Chief be granted and further the Clerk notify the Richmond Water Works Corporation. This IIImotion was seconded by Mr. Uameson and on voice vote was carried. The Board granted permission to the Gateway Shopping Center to have 'a fire works display on May 7, 1966, subject 'to the approval of the State of Indiana. The curb cut requests at 18th and. East Main Streets were still under advisement.' The Board approved the curb cuts as requested, by Frank DeVity at South 5th and "D" Streets for driveways. - -'r. Burelison presented the following tabulation of proposals that were opened for furnishing a new street sweeper for the Street Department. Ries Equipment Company, Inc. - - One (1) Elgin Street sweeper, F.O.B. Richmond, Indiana $13,663.00 Indiana Equipment Company, Inc. One (1) Mobil Model F.O.B. Richmond, Indiana $11,879.00 • Optional Bid One (1) Mobil Model F.O.B. Richmond, Indiana $12,779.00 Fred Malotte Machinery Company, Inc. This proposal failed to have the Non Collusion Affidavit notorazied, therefore was rejected. Mr. Burelison stated that he had made a thorough study of the proposals received- and recommended the proposal of the Ries Equipment Company, Inc. Mr. Gehr moved the Board accept the recommendation and sign the Acceptance of Proposal as Contract of the Ries Equipment Company, Inc. This motion was seconded by Mr. Jameson and on voide vote was carried. - Captain Stout reoorted that the parking stalls along the streets and also on the Municio:al Parking Lots are in need of paint. The parking meters in the lots are also in need of repainting. Captain Stout also requested larger signes on the Parking Lots to inform traffic of the hours of operation. The Board granted permission III to Captain Stout to receive quotation for the repainting as requested and also the costs of the signs that would -be required. - • Mr. Gehr moved thatplans, profile and specifications be prepared by the Henry - Steeg and Associates to widen and install storm water-drainage along Northwest 5th Street from the Chicago Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad north to the intersection -of Sheridan and Northwest 5th Streets. Mr. Jameson seconded this motion and onvoice vote was carried. The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare the advertising to receive proposals for furnishing the various departments with gasoline, oil, grease, street material, etc. -The proposals to-he received Thursday, May 19, 1966.
