BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND STY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 2, 1965.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the City Hall in said City Thursday, December 2, .1965 at the hour
of 9:00 o'clock a.m. (est). Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being
present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The following business was had to-wit: .
The Clerk read the minutes of the ,previous meeting. There being no corrections
or additions Mr. Kemper moved the minutes be approved as read, seconded by Mr. Gehr
and on voice vote was carried.
Mr. Kemper moved the claims be allowed and paid seconded by Mr. Gehr and on111
voice vote was unanimously carried.
Mayor Cordell presented and read a letter from the Lake Central Airlines stat-
ing that as of December 31, 1965 air service would be discontinued in the City of
Richmond. Local service did not justify said airlines of making stops.
Mr. Earl Wood 80 years old and who has served as crossing guard for school
children at the intersection of North 10th and "H" Street for the past 10 years was
honored by the Board of Works and Police Department for the years of service. Mr.
Wood stated his resignation was due to failing eyesight. Mr. Grant Hopkins will
replace Mr. Wood. The Mayor read a proclaimation that this day would be Mr. Earl
Wood day.
Rogers Bird Exterminating Company expressed a desire to enter into a contract
for one year to treat areas necessary for control of birds at the property of the
old Fire Station at South 9th and "E" Streets. This was taken under advisement.
Mr. Gehr reported that his office had been contacted by owner of a Laundramat
located on North 6th and "B" Street. The owner complained of the parking meters
being in operation on North "B" Street, south of his establishment. The question is
if North "B" Street is a part of the Municipal Parking Lot or North "B" Street.
This was referred to Captain Stout for investigation and report back to the Board.
Mr. Calvelage, Building Commissioner, made a request for purchase of a new car
for the Bureau of Buildings along with specifications. Mr. Kemper moved the Clerk
prepare advertising for bids to be received on Thursday, December 30, 1965 for a
new car according to specifications and a trade-in allowance on a 1960 Falcon used.

unanimously carried. -
A letter was received from the Downtown Merchants, Inc. directed to the Board
of Works asking for a continuance of the Parking Meter Moratorium.
The Board agreed that this was a matter for Council and referred the letter to
Mr. Charles Yount who was in attendance.
Mr. Karl J.Kolger, local attorney, for a local corporation thatfis planning to
relocate a U.H.F.Television station in the City of Richmond. This corporation has
filed with the F.C.C. and if granted permission to relocate in Richmond and if a
C.A.T.V. franchise agreement is awarded they would like to negotiate for a joint
contract to be on one of the channels. It is also expressed that this corporation
is not opposed to C.A.T.V.
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and carried the
meeting adjourned.
