POWERS OF SPECIAL LANV ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS CLASS I
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as follows:
Section 1. To the extent not otherwise authorized by law, and subject to the Rules
and Regulations and Orders of the Police Chief, Special Law
Enforcement Officers, Class I, shall have the additional power to issue
summonses for disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses,
violations of municipal ordinances and violations of Title 39 of the
Revised Statutes. The use of a firearm by an officer of this class shall
continue to be strictly prohibited and no Class One officer shall be
assigned any duties which may require the carrying or use of a firearm.
Section 2. All Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any such
inconsistency.
Section 3. If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision of this
Ordinance is adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to the
section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision so adjudged and the
remainder of this Ordinance shall be deemed valid and effective.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication according
to applicable law.

was adopted on first reading.
The said ordinance will be fur-
ther considered on second
reading for final adoption at a
meeting of said Council of the
Borough of Carteret on Decem-
ber 1, 2016 at approximately
6:00 P.M., Borough Hall /Council
Chambers, 61 Cooke Avenue,
Carteret, New Jersey at which
time and place all persons inter-
ested will be given an opportu-
nity to be heard.
