HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-04-1965 f . = BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY March 4, 1965 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the City Hall in said City i'hursday, March 4, 1965 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. (est). Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being' present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The following business was had to-wit: The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting. There being no corrections or additions, Mr. Kemper moved the minutes be approved, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Jameson presented the tabulations for the bids received for 1 Sedan and 3 Station Wagons that were received February 25, 1965. Raper Sales 1-Sedan =pl,347.73 net 3-Station Wagons 5,176.92 net Raper Plymouth �Y. 1-Sedan $1,324.32 net 3-Station Wagons 5,106.60 net • Fred First Inc. 1-Sedan $1,579.05 net 3-Station Wagons 5,919.65 net, Kurdys Chevrolet 1-Sedan $1,500.00 net 3-Station Wagons 5,232.27 net • Chief of Police Stultz recommended the bids of Raper Plymouth be accepted. Mr. Kemper moved the City Attorney prepare an ordinance to authorize the pruchase of the Sedan and 3 Station Wagons from the Raper Plymouth for use by the Police Department. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr presented the modified plans, profiles and estimate of cost for Improvement Resolution o ItI . 1071-1965. Kemper moved �raat the Board confirm Improvement Resolution No. 1071-1965 as modified by the plans, profile and estimate of cost for Improvement Resolution No a. 1071-1965; and further moved that the Clerk prepare the advertising to receive bids to do the work Thursday March 25, 1965 until the hour of 10:00 o'clock a.m. (est). Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The Clerk presented Ordinance No. 2109-1965, "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, I'IDIANA TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF RICHMOI'':D, Ii`DIAA lA". Ordinance No. 2109-1965 showed that it had been duly passed by the Common Council Monday, March 1, 1965 and duly signed by the President and the Mayor. Mr. Kemper moved the Board sign and execute the bid of the Malottee Machinery Co.Inc. for 1 Air Compressor and Air Hammer in the net sum of 0,930.00 which was the lowest and best bid submitted. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Jameson presented a request to transfer the suss of `;>200.00 from Board of Works J-30, Land, Sanitary Storm Sewer-Barrett Law Improvement, to J-31, Other Equipment. The reason stated for the need of this transfer was that there is need for a 12 foot ladder, a new sweeper, and other incidentals for the year 1965 to be used by the janitor of the City Hall. Mr. Kemper moved that a Resolution be prepared for Council's consideration to transfer the above amount of money as requested. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Kemper read the One (1) year contract for Fire Protection between the City of Richmond, Indiana and the Wayne Township of Wayne County Indiana. • 2..11 • Mr. Kemper moved the contract be executed by the Board and that an early meeting date be set between the Board of Works and the Wayne Township Committee to discuss future , contracts. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The Clerk presented proofs of publications of notices showing that on the dates of January llth and 18th, 1965 notice had been duly published in the Richmond Palladium- Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, that sealed proposals would be received for furnishing the Fire Department of the City of Richmond, Indiana, with one (1) all metal, 85 foot, tractor-drawn, Aerial Ladder Truck as per specification on file, until the hour of 10:.00 o'clock a.m. (est) on the date of March 4-, 1965. Mr. Kemper examined the proofs of publications and found the same to be in order and correct and moved that such proofs of publications be accepted and filed. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. _ March 4-, 1965 Itt he hour of 10:00 o'clock a.rn. (est) being the date and time to receive and open bids for the :Aerial Truck. The following bids were received opened and read aloud. . Midwest Fire & Safety Equipment Co., Indianapolis, Indiana Seagraves Inc., Columbus Ohio Sutphen Fire Equipment, Amlin, Ohio ,American LaFrance, Elmira, New York Mr. Kemper moved the bids received be referred to the Fire Chief and City Controller for tabulation and recommendation.
