HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-17-1964 88 • BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY Oeve'eber 17, 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the City Hall in said City Thursday, December 17, 1964, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. (est). Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Kemper and Mr. Gehr. The following business was had to-wit: The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting. There being no corrections or additions, Mr. Kemper moved the minutes be approved as read. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the bills be allowed, seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Jameson presented an affidavit from the State Board of Tax Commissioners of Indiana stating that said Board had approved the Additional Appropriation in the sure. of `220,000.00 that was transferred from Cumulative Storm Sewer to New Construction of Storm Sewers provided in Ordinance No. 2005-1964 adopted by the Common Council November 16, 1964. Mr. Jameson moved that the above be made a record of this meeting, seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. Jameson presented a letter he sent to Sgt. Moulding dated December 14, 1964, requesting the keys to No. 4 Hose House be turned in iMaediately. The Board directed Mr. Jameson to contact the Gas Corp., Light Plant and Water Co. to read out the meters immediately. Mr. Loer, member of the Steed; Assoication read the following tabulations on the bids received to do the work on SURFACE WATER DRAiNAGE, SECTION "C", SOUTH "G" STREET STORM SEWER EXTENSION TO SOUTH '?E" STREET AND D SOUTH 28th STREET. STREET Gentlemen: We are submitting herewith a tabulation of the bids received December. 10, 1964 on the subject project. • The following are the three lowest bidders: Tousley Construction Co.,Inc. 925 East St.Clair St. Indianapolis, Indiana Base Bid 142,377.00 Bid Bond Days of Completion - 90 Curry Construction Co. Bloomington, Indiana. Base Bid 144,000.00 Bid Bond Days of completion - 200 Engineering Construction Corp. Logansport, Indiana Base Bid 0145,480.00 Bid Bond Days of completion - 150 The lowest bidder, Tousley Construction Company, Ind., is qualified and financially able to execute the work of the project, -and we recommend that the contract be award- ed to said lowest bidder. Leer (Para. below corrected in minutes of 12-24-64) Mr. Kemper examined the contract to be signed and moved this Board execute ,and sign the contract of the Tousley Construction Company, Inc. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was unanimously carried. 189 ZLr. Gehr moved. the Henry B. Steed; & Associates, inc. be authorized by this Board to pro- ceed with preparing the plans, specifications and etc.; to construct the Storm Sewer extention from Southwest 19th and "C" Street to 150 feet north of ':Test Main Street at N.H. 20th Street. Mr. Kemper seconded this motion and on voice vote was unanimously carried. The Clerk presented proof of publication of the notice showing that on the dates of November 27th and December 7th, 1964, notice had been duly published in the Richmond . Palladium-item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, that bids would be received for the construction of a concrete alley between Lincoln and Rardolph Streets, from Northwest 4th Street to Northwest 5th Street as provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 1069-1964, and that such notice, the date of December 17, 1964., IIIat the hour of 10:00 o'clock a.ra. (est), was fixed and designated as the date and time the bids would d he received and opened. Mr. Kemper examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order and moved the proof of publication be received and ordered filed. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. December la, 1964 being the date designated to open the bids received and read .aloud. The following hid was opened and read aloud: Jul Gerken, Inc. '.3,375.00 City Engineer's estimate 3,384.00 Mr. Gels examined the bid and found the same to be in order and moved the Board accept the bid. of Jul Gerkin, Inc. This motion was seconded byz, Mr. Hamper and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. IIIGehr reported that the job was done and he had inspected the same and moved the above amount be paid. This motion was seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was unanimously carried. • Mr. Gehr presented a preliminary assessment roll for Improvement Resolution No. 2065- 1964, construction of a Sanitary Sewer on the east side of South 9th Street, from:? South "`" Street to the Boston Pike. Mr. Gehr moved the Clerk be authorized to prepare the publication for a public hearing to he held on said assessment roll, Thursday, January 14, 1965 at the hour of 10:00 o'clock a.m. (est). This motion was seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. Gehr presented a request from the American Oil Company to make two (2) new curb cuts on South "A" Street, near the Standard Station. The location_ of these curb cuts will provide better ingress and egress for traffic to the said station. The traffic depart- ment had been contacted and no objections were given. Mr. Kemper moved the request be granted, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. The Health Department requested that a new car be purchased for the use by the Health Department. The present car being used by Mr. Dudley Morgan is useless and he is using his own car to carry on his duties. Specifications were presented and there will be a trade-in on a 1957 Ford 2-door car. Mr. -Kemper moved the Board accept the specifications and the Clerk be authorized to prepare the publications to receive bids for a new car for the Health Department on the date of January 7th, 1965 at the hour of 10:00 o'clock a.m. (est) .
