HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-29-1964 114 BOARD OF PUBLIC IORKS AND SAFETY Thursday, October 29, 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the City Hall in said City, Thursday, October 29th, 1964, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The following business was had, to-wit: Mr. Kemper moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the bills be allowed, seconded by Mr. Kemper andon voice vote the motion was carried. City Engineer, Stanley B. Gehr, presented the following Improvement Resolution No. 1069-1964 as follows: IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 1069-1964 RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, that is is deemed necessary to improve the alley between Linooln Street and Randolph Street, from Northwest 4th St. to Northwest 5th St. by construction of a concrete alley the full width in accordance with the profile, detail drawings and specifications on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City and such improvement is now ordered. The cost of said Improvement shall be assessed upon the real estate and on the property abutting on the streets and alleys intersecting the improvement area, and upon the City of Richmond, Indiana, if said City is benefited by said improvements, all ac- cording to the method and provided Dor in an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled, "An act Concerhing Municipal Corporations", approved March 6, 1905, and in accordance with and pursuant to all amendatory and supplemental acts thereto passed by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana. Assessments if de- ferred, are to be paid in ten(10) equal installments, with interest at the rate of six percent (6%) per annum. A Bond shall be issued to the contractor in payment of such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bond is issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of Richmond, Indiana, be held re- sponsible for any sums due from said property owner or owners for said work, or for the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond, bonds, certificate or certificates issued to said contractor in payment for such work, except for monies as shall have been actually received by the City from the assessments or monies as said City is, by said entitled ::Act, required to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assessment of property, collection of assessments and issuance of bonds therefore, shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act and amendments thereto. • Mr. Kemper moved the adoption of Improvement Resolution 1069-1964 and the Clerk prepare the advertisement of a public hearing to be held on the date of Nov. 25, 1964 at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. - Mr. Gehr, City Engineer, presented a request made by Mr. John Isz. Miller to cuty the curb at West Third and Main Street for the proposed new Milk House. These plans had been presented to the traffic department and no objection was given. On motion made by Mr. Gehr, seconded by Mr. Kemper and carried, the request was granted. - The Clerk presented proof of publication of notice that on the 6th and 13th days of Oct. 1964 notice had been duly published in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the 6ity of Richmond, Ind., that sealed proposals would be received for furnishing the Street Department with Calcium Chloride and Rock Salt. Mr. Kemper examined the proof of publication and found the same to be in order and moved they be accepted and filed. Mr. Gehr seconded the motion. October 29th, 1964 being the date designated for receiving of bids for furnishing Calcium Chloride and Rock Salt for the Street Department. The following bids were opened and read aloud: CAlcium Chloride Dow Chemical Company Commons Lumber Company Rock Salt International Salt Company Morton Salt Company Mr. Kemper moved the bids be referred to the City Engineer and St. Commissioner for final tabulation and recommendation. Mr. Jameson seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. ' F7 Bd. of Works Oct. 29, 1964 cont. The Clerk presented proof of publication of notice that on the 6th and 13th day of Oct. 1964 notice had been duly published in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, that sealed proposals would be re- ceived for furnishing the Street Department with one (1) 1965 2 ton pick-up truck with trade-in on one (1) 1952 GMC (12) ton Chassis. Mr. Kemper examined the proof of publication and found the same to be in order and moved that they be accepted and filed. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was carried. October 29th, 1964 being the date designated for receiving the bids for furnishing the Street Department with One (1) 1965 2 Ton pick-up truck. The following bids were- opened and read aloud: III Fred First, Ford Agency Ferd Kurdys Chevrolet kzarfield GMC Company Mr. Kemper moved that the bids be referred to the City Engineer and Street Commissioner for final tabulation and recommendation. Mr. Jameson seconded this motion and on voice rote was carried.
