HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-01-1964 169 BOARD OF PUBLIC DARKS AND SAFETY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the City Hall in said City, Thursday, October 1, 1964, at the hour of 8:30 o'clock a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper.. The, following business was had to-wit: Mr. Kemper moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the bills be allowed, seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was carried. IIIThe Board approved the request of Fire Chief Fredricks to run electric current service to the new Fire Training Area. Mr. Jameson to contact the Light Plant and request this said service. On recommendation of Captain Stout the Board approved the Richmond Senior High School of staging a Homecoming Parade Wednesday, October 14, 1964 as per plans outlined by the Police Department. Board On recommendation of Capt. Stout tha/approved the Earlham College of staging a Home- coming parade..October 23, 1964 as per plansoutlined by the Police Dept. The Board approved a request to cut the curb at 1320 South 5th St. Mr. Burlison, Street Comm. presented a request to transfer the sum of Twenty-five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) within the same classification in the Street Dept., Fund Budget, from Account No. S-16, replace walks, curbs and gutters, to S-11, repair buildings and struct- ures. This amount of money is needed to pay for the boiler repair in the Street Dept. Garage. Mr. Kemper moved the Clerk be authorized to prercre a resolution to transfer the fund as requested and said resolution be presented to Commoh Council. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Burlison presented specifications for a new 1965 Pick-up Truck for use by the Street IIIDept., with a trade in 1952, 2 ton chassis. Mr. Kemper moved the request be accepted and the Clerk prepare the advertising to receive bids O(Atvber 29, 1964. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Burlison reported that his department would have to have 500 tons more- or less of Road Salt and 50 tons more or less Calcium Chloride for the coming winter season. Mr. Gehr moved the Clerk prepare the advertising and receive bids for these,.-items October 29, 1964. This motion was seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote wad: carried. Mr. Jameson presented a request for transfer the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) from Board of Public Works and Safety Acct. No. J-29) Barrett Law Improvements, to Board of Public Works and Safety Acct. No. J-13, Coal and Oil. This amount is needed for Fuel Oil for the City Building for the remainder of the year. - Mr. Kemper moved the Clerk prepare an ordinance for the above transfer request for Common Council's consideration. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Jameson presented a request for the transfer of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00), from unappropriated funds in the Parking Lot Fund Budget for the purpose of paying Electric , Current for the three (3) City Parking Lots. Mr. Kemper moved the Clerk prepare a resolution for the transfer of the above amount for Common Council's consideration. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. the Clerk presented proof of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium:Item, a news- paper of general circulation, on the dates of September 8-15, 1964, that bids would be received on October 1, 1964 for three (3) new 1965 automobiles for use by the Police Dept. Mr. Kemper examined the proofs and found the same to be in order. Mr. Kemper moved the proof of publication be filed, seconded by Mr. Gahr and on voice vote the notion was carried. - The following bids were received, opened and read aloud: Rose City Ford Three units per specs $ 9,197.55 Trade-in on two units 3,826,95 Net Difference $ 5,370.60 10 Bd. of Wks.Oct. 1, 1964 cont. Raper (Plymouth) Three units per specs $ 9,321.00 Trade-in two units 3,763.42 Net Difference $ 5,557.58 Kurdy's Chevrolet, Inc. Three units per specs $ 8,532.75 Trade-in two units 2,831.75 Net Difference $ 5,701.00 Mr. Kemper moved the bids be referred to the Police Department and the City Con , bl- ler for final study and tabulation. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was. carried. There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
