HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-20-1964 162 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY Thvrsdu_au pt. 20: 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of. the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the City Hall in said City, Thursday, August 20, 1964, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding, with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The following business was had, to-wit: Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. This motion was seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was carried, Mr. Gehr moved the bills be approved, aeconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Leo Hastings, owner of. the Hastings Mfg. Company on N.W."L" Street, appeared before the Board. Mr. Hastings wanted a light pole moved so that the Semi- Trailers could get into his building easier. Mr. Jameson stated that he would contact the Light Plant on this matter. The Board went on record of not being in favor of the purchase of the J.C. front plates for the City Owned cars and trucks. Sgt. Martin of the Police Department reported that he had made the monthly in- spection of the taxi cabs in the City. Mr. Kemper moved that the Board sign the release submitted by. U.S.Army Engineers, who had been leasing the Fire Station located at South 9th and "E" Streets. The time of the expiration will be•midnight August 31, 1964. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The proposal of the Indiana State Highway Commission to change the speed of motor traffic on U.S. #40, from S.W. 18th Street to Salisbury Road, was taken under advisement, The City Attorney requested more time for study of this proposal.
