BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
Thursday, august 13, 1964
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the City Hall, Thursday, August 13, 1964, at the hour of 9:00
o°clock a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members
being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The following business was had, to-wit:
Mr. Kemper moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with seconded
by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried.
Mr. Gehr moved the bills be allowed, seconded by Mr. Kemper and on voice vote was
carried.
The Police Department reported that there were twenty two traffic signals that
limbs of trees were obstructing the view of the signals. This was taken under z
advisement,
Mr. Gehr reported that the roof over the Street Department Garage had been re
paired and the total price to do the job was $428.00
The Board heard one operator of the junk automobile business who had been reported
by neighbors in the fringe area of the nuisance that he was causing. This operator
stated that he was carrying on this type of business before the recent annexation.
This was taken under advisement. Mr. Kemper will meet with his attorney in the near
future and discuss the problem. Mayor Cordell stated that he will meet with the
two local scrape iron dealers and see what can be worked out to relieve the problem.
On request of Mr. Kemper the Board approved the closing of South 21st Street from
South A, To B Streets on August 2,4, 1964, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.
This function will be a block picnic.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly +. de, seconded and
carried, the meeting adjourned. ;
