HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-06-1964 IL Q BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY --Thursday; August 6, 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the City Hall, Thursday, August 6, 1964, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Kemper. The ,following business was had, to-wit: Mr. Kemper moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Kemper moved the bills be allowed, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. The complaint of Mrs. Gayle Harvey of a nuisance being created by people working on Stock cars in the alley near her home was referred to the Police Dept. to investigate and re- port .to the Board. The Clerk presented proofs of publication of notice showing that on July 8th and 15th, 1964 notice had been duly published in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, of a public hearing on the Assess- ment Roll for Improvement Resolution No. 1063-1964, concrete alley between Pearl and Kinsey Streets, from Northwest 4th to Northwest 5th Streets, and that said Board would receive and hear remonstrances against the amounts assessed against each of the lots on said roll. Mr. Kemper examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order and moved that such proof of publication be accepted and filed. Mr. Gehr seconded the motion and on voice vote was carried. August 6th, 1964 being the date designated for hearing on said Assessment Roll for Improvement Resolution No. 1063-1964, concrete alley between Pearl and Kinsey Streets, from Northwest 4th to Northwest 5th Streets, the Board then took up said :Assessment Roll for hearing and consideration. No remonstrances of any kind were filed or pre- sented with the Board. All persons present were heard by the Board on matters per- taining to such assessment and assessments against their respective lands. The Board then determined that the several lots and lands assessed under the Assessment Roll for Improvement Roll No. 1063-1964 are specially benefited by the amounts respectfully assessed against them in the .Assessment Roll. • After such hearing and determination, Mr. Kemper moved that such Assessment Roll and several assessments shown therein against the lots and lands described therein be con- firmed. Mr. Gehr seconded the motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr reported that he had made further study on the roof over the Street Dept. Garage. Mr. Gehr recommended that the roof be repaired with a Hot Pitch roofing com- pound at a cost of $398.00 as submitted by Millard Benson, a reputable roof repairman. Mr. Kemper moved that the Board concur in the recommendation of the City Engineer. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The City Engineer presented detailed plans, drawings and specifications as requested by a petition to improve the alley between Richmond Avenue and Randolph Street, from North- west 2nd to Northwest 3rd Street by paving the said alley with concrete. On motion made by Mr. Kemper and seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote the Board adopted Preliminary Improvement Resolution No. 1066-1964, to improve the alley between Richmond Avenue and Randolph Street from Northwest 2nd to Northwest 3rd Street, paving with concrete. The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare the proper advertising for a public hearing to be held on Thursday, September 3rd, 1964 on Improvement Resolution No. 1066-1964.
