HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-13-1964 H3 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY February 13, 1964 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana met in regular session in the Mayor 's office in the City Hall in said City, Thursday, February 13, 1964 at the hour of 9 : 30 A.M. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present : Mr.McDanielland Mr. Gehr. The following business was had , to-wit : I ' The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting. There beinig no cor- rections or additions Mr. McDaniel moved the minutes be approved as read , seconded by Gehr and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried . 1 Cantain Walter Stout and Officer Martin appeared before the Board and outlined and explained the need of action on- the following: Main Street Bridge east to 12th Street needs repaving: the hazard that the inter- section of North 9th. and "D" Streets is creating; the, need of the new type of traffic signals along East Main. Street ; bettezoperati_on of directional lights at the intersection of Southwest 7-ftrl and Natonal Road . Mr.Jameson was authorized to write to the Chairman of the State Highway Commission of Indiana for the purpose of setting a date when most convenient to them for a meeting to be held here in Richmond and go over the above items in person with them. Mr. Stout outlined the need of better overhead direction signs at the intersection of North 5th and North "A" Street and also at 8th and Main Streets. 1 The Clerk was authorized to prepare the proper advertising to receive bids for Two (2) new 1964 8-cylinder 2 door cars to he used by the Police Department as per specifications . Two cars to be traded-in, One (1) Ford and One (1) 1962 Ford. Mr. Jameson presented a check in sum of $1 ,000.00 from the Insurance Company dated December 20, 1963 that handled the bond for Airptt Man- ager, Mr. Daugherty. Mr. McDaniel explained this was all the BDndi_ng Company was to nay as the bond was for this amount when written. Mr. McDaniel moved that the City Controller accent this cheek and deposit in right account of the City, seconded by Gehr and on voice vote the motion was carried . The Clerk was authorized to prepare a Resolution for the transfer in the Police Department Budget of General Fund as follows : One Hundred • and Sixty Dollars ($160 .00) from L-21 "Furniture & Fixtures" to L-25 "Other Equipment" . This amount to be used for the purchase of a new typewriter. The reason for a resolution instead of an ordinance is that these two items are under the same classification of "Properties" and does not require an ordinance nor the State Tax Board approlval . Mr. Jameson presented e claim in the amount of Four Hundred and Seven Dollars and twenty-two cents ($407. 22) balance due on the 1963 Fall Election in City per billing from Kenneth L.Knight , Auditor of Wayne County, Indiana . The Clerk was authorized to prepare an ordinance to transfer the sum of $407.22 from General Fund Cash Operating to. Gen- . Fund Common Council Budget E-10 "Elections" 6-64 "Current Obligations" . City Pttorney McDaniel reported that he had made an investigation of the claim -that Mr. Andy Bandura presented to the Board December 10, 1963. Mr. Bandura claimed his car hit a manhole cover on South 2nd Street e.nd damaged the front crossbar, frame and alignment of the wheels . Two estimates to repair the damage was presented . One by . the Thayer Alignment Service in the amount of $79.50 and one by the Red ' s Alignment Service $78 .47. Mr. McDaniel moved the estimate of Red ' s Alignment Service in the sum of $78 .47 be paid to Mr. Bandura and the City Controller be so instructed . Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was carried . The hoard signed the following Assessment Roll No . 1047-1962 "Sanitary Sewer in Northwest .7th Street , North of Richmond Avenue . The Board signed the following Assessment Roll No . 1050-1962 "Sanitary Sewer in South 5th Street , from South "E" Street to C.& O.Railroad . The Board signed the following Assessment Roll No. 1055-1963 "Sanitary Sewer in N.W. "L" and N.W9 6th Streets" . The Board signed the following Assessment Roll No. 1056-1963 "Sanitary Sewer in River Court" . The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare the proper advertising for a public hearing on the above assessment rolls . Mr. Gehr moved that the bills he allowed paid , seconded by Mr. McDaniel and on voice vote the motion was carried .
