BOARD OF_PUBLIC. IORKS AND SAFETY v..
February 6, 1964
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana
met in regular session in the Mayor 's office in the City Hall Thurs-
day, February 6th, 1964 at the hour of 9 :30 a .m . Mr. Jameson presid-
ing with the following members being present : Mr. McDaniel and Mr.
Gehr . The Following business was had , to-wit :
The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting. With no correct-
ion or addition, McDaniel moved the minutes be approved as read , second-
ed by Gehr and on voice vote the motion was carried .
A petition was presented as follows :
The undersigned owners of real estate abutting South 17th Street ,
from South "E" Street to South "F" Street respectfully petition for
the passage of a resolution providing for the construction of a
paved Street. Signed :Farrell Fadely, Alma Fadely, Karl Henning and
Sally Harming.
The above petition was referred to the City Engineer to prepare a
resolution to do said work requested .
Fire Chief Fredricks reported that Robert F.Johnson and Charles H.
Clark, applicants for the Fire Department had passed all the require-
ments to become a member of the Fire Department . Fire Chief recommended
that these two men he placed on the Fire Department as Probationary
Firemen beginning February 16th, 1964. Mr. Gehr moved that this Board
accept the recommendation of the Fire Chief , Mr.McDani_el seconded the
motion and on voice vote the motion was carried.
Mayor Cordell reported that the hours of the Dog Warden would be stag-
gered during the day and night in the future .
A petition signed by residents residing on College Avenue requesting
better Street Lighting was received . This petition was taken under
advisement . A meeting of this Board and Mr. Reck of the Richmond Power
and Light is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, February 6th to go over
the nroceedures of the petitions of this nature in the future .

The Board approved the following curb cuts : 75 Northwest E Street and
West Side of Soflth 17th Street , south of South A Street , near the First
Baptist Church.
The Building Commissioner brought to the Boards attention the ground
not being leveled off to grade after the demolition of the structures
located at 304 North 4th Street and 82.6-828 North G Street . This con-
dition creates a hazard . It was found that the agreement between the
Contractor and the city to remove these structures did not include
back filling. City Engineer Gehr was authorized to request the Street
Department to make the proper back fill to bring the land up to grade .
Mr. Gehr moved that the hills he allowed paid , seconded by McDaniel and. 1 ,
on voice vote the motion was carried.
The City Attorney McDaniel was requested to prepare forms for the City -
Engineer' s Office to be used for acquiring the, easements for real estate.
to construct new sewers in the city.
There being no further business presented Fehr moved to adjourn , second-
ed by McDaniel and on voice vote the motion was carried . -
