BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
JANUARY 232_ 1964
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana
met in the Mayor ' s office in the -City Hall, Thursday, January 23, 1964
at the hour of. 9 : 30 a.m. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following
members present : Mr. McDaniel and Mr. Gehr. The fol.lowirig busine s
was had to-wit : .
The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting and were approved .
The claims were allowed paid .
Captain Walter Stout appeared before the Board and presented traf ,ic
counts as to use of the alley between North 7th and 8th Street , South
of the Y.M.C.A. The count showed the following:
Tuesday, January 21 between the hours of 8 :00 ,A.M.-5 :00 P.M. 67
vehicles; 28 Taxicabs ; 30 Passenger Cars ; 9 Trucks .
Wednesday, January 22 between the hours of 8 :00 A.M.-5 :00 P.M.
58 vehicles; 36 passenger cars ; 16 taxicabs ; 6 trucks .
It was pointed out that all the taxicabs used said alley for east
bound , the passenger cars were about equal for both directions .
Mr. Paul Churton, President of the Magaw Asphalts Inc . appeared a d
submitted plans for said Asphalt Company' s plans of relocating th
present Asphalt Emulsion Plant from the Pennsylvania Railroad pro erty
to Magaw property on Hawkins Road. The Board referred Mr. Churto .
to the Building Commissioner to obtain a permit to build the new lant.
The Board approved the Proposal of the Roger Bird Exterminators tp do
the following work: Work to be done on the North 10th Street over-
pass and the City Hall. Work on the 20th Century Bridge not to be
done as the original proposal indicated .
The Campbell , Duff and Rehling Inc . presented a Purchase Agreement
to sell to the City of Richmond , Indiana , the properties located at
28-30-32 North 5th Street in Richmond , Indiana for the sum of $22 ,000.00.
The Board authorized the Clerk to forward the above agreement to the
City Plan Commission for their study and recommendations .
Mr. William Reller, Attorney. and Mr. Richard Terwilliger, Archit-ct
for the Second National Bank appeared before the Board and submi ted
plans for the said Bank's parking lot and Drive up Deposit building.
They were ad `7ised that this matter had been referred to the City
Plan Commission for their study and recommendation. The Board w' ll
make a final decision after hearing from said Plan Commission:
On recommendation of Fire Chief Fredricks , the Board approved the
appointment of Larry Bosell to the Fire Department as Probationary
Fireman as of February 1 , 1964.
There being no further business presented ,on motion duly made, seconded
and carriea the meeting adjourned .
