BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

DECEMBER 26, 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding - All members present=The following business was
had to wit :
111 The Board discussed the purchase of the South 6th & "A" Street Shaffer
property and directed that a letter be sent to Mr. Ross Harrington statue
ing that : The Board of Public Works and Safety has accepted the offer
to sell the Lillian Shaffer property at and for the sum of $45,000.00 ,
cash subject however to the statutes of the State of Indiana which
require the determination of necessity by the City Plan Commission; -
approval thereafter by the Board of Public Works and Safety and approp-
riation of funds by the Richmond Common Council , the matter is now
pending before the City Plan Commission.
Mr. Larry Cox appeared before the Board and requested that he be granted
a permit to remodel the structure at North 14th & G Streets , The Board apr
proved his request. -
For the pension board records the following service record of Orville
Conyers , has been recommended to be incorporated in the Board of Works
minutes by Mayor Roland H. Cutter.
June 16,1946 Appointed to the Police Department as Patrolman
January 1 ,1956 Appointed as Assistant Chief of Police Department
July 20,1960 Appointed as Chief of Police Department
December 31 ,, "1963-At high noon-returned to status of patrolman,
then immediately appointed acting Chief until
noon January 1, 1964 or until his successor
has been duly appointed.
There being no further business the Board adjourned their last meeting.
