BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
NOVEMBER 7, 1963
The Board of public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding - All member present - The following business -
was had to wit:
The Board signed the final plat for the Country Club Hills, first Add-
ition.
A public hearing was held for Assessment Roll 1052-1962, proof of
publication was approved, and ordered - filed. Richard Spires -buying
number 57 appeared in protest of his assessment of $227.30, after a
discussion by the Board of the matter, it was deemed that the Improvement
would benefit the property for a greater amount than the assessment, City
Controller Tiffany moved that the Assessment Roll be confirmed, seconded
by City Engineer Sherick, unanminous voice vote.
The Board of Public Works and Safety granted a 30 day extension to Micajah
Leavell to show his intention to clean up and improve his condemned property
at 620 North 22nd St.
The Board approved a request by Don McBride to use 2 Park employees to,
remove stumps resulting from the numerous trees that have been cut down
recently.
The Board approved a request from Capt. Stout, traffic department to re-
move two (2) parking meters on South "A" Street - North side by the
Leland Motor Inn.
The Board approved a recommendation of Capt. Stout to install "Yield &
Stop" signs for Locust Lanee and Earlham South Addition, as follows

City Controller Tiffany moved to award the bid for a new 1964 auto-
mobile for the use of the Police Dept. , to Kurdys Chevrolet on their
bid of $1680.32 (net) plus trade in of 1956 Chev. & 1960 Chev.
The Board approved an additional payment of $718.00 for extra work on the
South "G" Street bridge that was not specified in the original estimate -
(the work consisted of cutting back the ends of the street at both ends
of the bridge) .
I . Fire Chidf Klotz recommended that the Board order t he Water Works Corp-
oration install fire hydrants and extend the water mains on South 13th
Street to service the new sub-division, the order will be given as soon
as new houses are being built.
