BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OCTOBER 31, 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Tiffany, president pro-tem presiding - City Attorney Cecere absent - The following business was had to wit : The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for the construction of Sanitary Sewers Section #1 & # 2 in South Richmond, Improvement Resolution No. 1058-1963. The proofs were accepted as being in order, and ordered filed. The I following bids were opened : Section 1 Section 2 DeBolt Concrete Co. $33,124.50 $23,944. 30 Henry L. Owens & Son No Bid $22 ,760.00 City Controller Tiffany moved that the low bids be accepted, thus DeBolt Concrete Co. was awarded the Section #1 bid and Henry L. Owens & Sons was awarded the Section #2 bid, subject to their signing the necessary contracts and providing preformance bonds. The Clerk was instructed to assign No. 1961-1963 for Improvement Re- solution to construct a Sanitary Sewer on Porterfield Ave. and set a hearing date of November 14, 1963. The Clerk was instructed to obtain estimates for Street Light at three locations : 1. No. West "K" at the alley between Hunt & Ridge Street. 2. Vicinity of So. West 5th Street , Earlham Drive and Gurney Drive. 3. S. W. & N. W. 13th St. from National Road to the railroad under-paas. IA complaint of broken sidewalk at 523 Southllth St . was referred to the Street Department. The Board approved the installation of Street_Lights at the Following locations : 1. Alley between 21st & 22nd Sts. - 1st St . So. of Main St. 2. Sharon Drive 3. South "N" St. - from South 6th St. to the C&O Railroad The Clerk was instructed to request the Street Department to repair the road at the east end of the pavement on Industries Road. The Clerk was instructed by the Board to have prepared a Memorial Re- solution for Mr. Manley Lawrence - Street Commissioner - who died October 29, 1963. City Controller Tiffany announced that the City Building would be closed at 1;00 PM in order that employees may attend the funeral of Mr. Lawrence.
