HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-26-1963 K7 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY SEPTEMBER 26, 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding- All member present - The following business was had to wit : The Board approved the installation of two (2) Street Lights in the 1400 block of South 13th Street , per estimate #2550 of the Richmond Power and Light . The Board of Works approved three (3) parades in October, subject to Police Traffic Division supervision: 6 : 30 PM - October 3 - Richmond High School Pep Rally- from Glen Miller to High School 1 :00 PM - October 12 - Fire Department - Fire Prevention Week - 12th St . to Courthouse - 6:00 PM - October 18 - Earlham Homecoming - College to 9th St. The Board instructed Captain Stout Police Department Traffic Division and Captain Woolf of the Police Department Juvenile Division to survey the Charles School area concerning the trrffic problem there. The Board approved the recommendation of Captain Stout Police Dept. Traffic Division toiinStall a "LEFT TURN THIS LANE" sign at North 9th & "C" Street and a "LEFT LANE ONLY" sign at National Road & 2nd Street A report of a broken curb at 410 South 23rd Street was referred to the Street Department. The Board ordered Street Lights as needed to adequately light South 4th from South "A" to South "C" Street, installed by the Richmond Power and Light. The Board approved a request by the Merch='nts Association in conjunc- tion with Richmond Days , to hold a Street Dance on Main Street from 7th to 8th Streets, October 25, 1963 from 8 :00 PM to 11 :00 PM, subject to Police Department Traffic Division Supervision. The Board ordered the Fire Department and Building Commissioner to start condemnation proceedings against the property at 620 North 22nd Street and the Richmond Stock. Yards, being declared a nuisance, The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to advertise for sealed bids for a new automobile, trading in a 1956 Chev. and a 1960 Chev. (2) . The Clerk was instructed to obtain an estimate and recommendation from the Richmond Power and Light for adequate Street Lighting on the access • raod to the Middle-Fork Reservoir. The Board ordered the Police Department to investigate loud noises and a trailor being used in violation to the zoning code at South 16th & "J" Street in conjunction with a Revival Service being held there. The Board approved the signing of the intersection et Industries Road and US 35 Per plans submitted by Captain Stout - Police Traffic Divi- sion.
