HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-12-1963 85 BOA.RD' OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY SEPTEMBER 12 , 1963 The Board of Public Works met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present . The following business was had to wit : Mr. Ben Schubert, 420 Lincoln Street appeared before the Board seeking for Rev. J.T. Parnell to erect a tent at South 16th & "J" Street to hold a .revi..val. The Board gave tentative approval, subject to establish- ing a date and inspection of the tent and wiring by the Fire Department. The Board received a letter of appreciation for the Cities co-operation during the resurfacing of U.S . Route #40 East , from the Indiana State Highway Department. City Engineer Sherick reported that the Assessment Roll Improvement No. 1051-1963 has been prepared (concrete alley between South 5th & 6th Streets- from South "D" to South "E" Street) the Clerk was instructed to advertise a public hearing- (Oct .3) . The Board approveda curb cut for a private drive of 20ft . as req ested by Donald Gause, at 701 Richmond Avenue. The Board ordered the traffic department to erect a stop sign at outh- east Parkway and the Henley Road-to stop traffic for preferential Henley Road. The Board signed the final lease papers with the US Engineer Corp for the use of the ground floor of the old hose house number four at South 9th and "E" Streets. The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open. sealed bids for the construction of a sanitary sewer on Soutl "M" Street. The bids are : DeLucio - $2890.00 DeBolt - 2270.00 City Controller Tiffany moved that the bid be awarded to the low idder, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Bid was therefore awarded to the DeBolt Concrete Col , subject to the signing of necessary contracts. Robert Rees-Richmond Power and Light Engineer, reported that the P & L Co. is having a problem lighting up South 4th Street es requested by the Board, because of heavy foliage on the trees . A representive of the Nik-O-Lok Company of Indianapolis, Indiana, appeared before the Board to explain his companies coin changers . The Board ask him to make a survey of the City owned lots , and make the Board a proposit- ion. The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to attend th Annual Traffic Institute with Captain Stout and Officer Koons , September 18, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana .
