HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-05-1963 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY SEPTEMBER 5, 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Att- orney: Cecere presiding. All members present. The following business was had to wit: -Elmer Wines., 2111 Boston Pike was .itsued an order to discontinue the, ill- egal-.use Of property rented from Irwin Bane, at 2023 Baltimore Street. The property is being used in connection with automobile garage work for car storage in violation of the zoning code for that area. Mr. Bane and Mr. Wines were given until September 15,. 1963 to comply with the order. The Board approved a recommendation from Mr. R. Rees of the Richmond Power and Light to remove an ornamental street light at the northeast corner of -North 8th & "C" streets as-the street light is not needed at this location. The Board approved a request from the Association of Business and Profess- ional Women to hold a parade, Monday, October 7, 1963. The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open bids for the construction of Sanitary Sewers on Northwest "L" Street and River Court Street. City Controller Tiffany moved that the Board accept the bid of the only bidder, the DeBolt Concrete Company on both bids, which are below the estimates . The bids are: Northwest "L ;Street - Improvement Resolution No. 1055-1963426,350.00 River Court Street "' IT No. 1056-1963- 9,264.25 Mr. Bud Cox was given permission by the Board to submit plans and specif- ications for the rehabitation of the condemned building of Robert Ach-at North 14th & "G" Street, to the Building Commissioner. The Board recomm- ended a permit to remodel providing specifications and plans comply with the building code, and that work will be started at once. City Controller Tiffany made note of items referred to Board of Works, Council meeting September 3, 1963 - to make disposition.
