BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
AUGUST 8, 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regualr session with City Attorney Cecere
presiding. Assistant City Engineer Henry Blankenship filled the place of City Eng-
ineer Sherick on theBoard. The following business was had to wit:
Mr. Don Williams, representative of Fogelson Developer4 appeared before the Board
to request a Street Light be installed at the entrance to the Kingston Green Apartments
on the Chester Blvd. referred to the Engineering Department for recommendation;
The Board instructed the Building and Engineering Departments to check a reported
violation of the zoning code, by the George Price Paint and Body Shop at 2005
South 15th 'Street.
City Controller Tiffany moved that Preliminary Resolution No. 1054-1963 be rescinded
as there has been 13 out of 19 resident property owners remonstrating against
the Resolution to construct a concrete alley between North 16th and 17th Streets,
between North "A" and "B" Streets.
The Clerk was instructed to order a fire hydrant installed by the Richmond Water
Works Corporation at the North end of Baltimore Street.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare Ordinances for transfer of funds in the Fire
Department Budget fo/repair parts and a new boiler at No. 3 hose house.
The Board instructed Officer Coons to check the parking in front of the cab stand.
on north 8th Street and the stand on South 5th Street and to allot two (2) spaces for
each.
Street Commissioner Lawrence was instructed to repair breaks in the sidewalk at 31
North 8th Street and in front of Mac's Pahrmacy at 16th and Main Street. '
The Board ordered the Street Department to improve Sylvan Nook Drive. The Engineering
Department is to stake out the right-of-way-and to make recommendations.
Representatives of the Richwood Sub=,division, Section #1, appeared before the Board,
concerning the size of footers being used, it was agreed that the recommendations
of the Indiana FHA for the type of ground in this area be used.
The Board instructed the Engineering Department to inspect and make recommendations
for a guard rail at the bridge on Peacock Road near the baseball prk.
The Board approved a request for the appropriation pf $100.00 from the General Fund
to Garage & Motor in the Health & Sanitation Budget for automobile repairs.
The Board instructed the Clerk to set a hearing date, August 29, at 10:00 AM for
Sanitary Sewer in tpda South Richmond - Division "A".
The Boardaapproved a recommendation by City Controller Tiffany to install parking
meters on Bain Street (north side) immediately east of llth Street(that was used for
a drive way for a service station).
The Board approved a request for permission to move a house to R. L. Longer, ffom
the Hayes Property, National Road East, to Longer's Mobile Acres.
The Board instructed the Enginedring Department to check and make an estimate of
needed repairs to the bridge on Rich Road.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
