BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
JULY 25, 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular sessibn with City Attorney
Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following business was had
III to wit:
The Board received a petition from residents residing in the vicinity of Northwest
"E" Street and Sheridan Street to reguster a complaint that a large radio tower
recently installed caused TV interference. The matter was referred to the office
of the Building Commissioner to investigate.
The Richmond Bus Company reported that they would file for an increase in bus rates
from 100 to 15¢ for school children.
Don McBride submitted a list of 53 dead trees that need to be removed and 219
trees that need to be pruned or trimmed. The Board instructed the Clerk to prepare
an Ordinance for an additional appropriation of $5,OOO.00 for Tree Removal and
Tree Trimming to submit to Common Council.
The Board approved a recommendation by Police Officer Cons of the Traffic Division
to remove 2 parking meters immediately west of 8th Street on the south side to
permit a longer right turn lane.
The Board approved estimates and recommendations of the Richmond Power and Light to
install 3 Street lights on Catalpa Drive and 7 street lights on Locust Drive and
instructed the Clerk to order the installation.
A hearing pursuant to notice was held with Mrs. Ethel Gibson concerning the con-
demnation proceedings against her property at 826-828 North 1'G" Street. Ater
IIIa discussion on the matter City Engineer Sherick moved that the Board affirm the
order of the Building Commissioner to raze the building since it is beyond repair
and unfir for human habitation. The Building Commissioner was instructed to adver-
tise forbidders to raze the building.
Robert Ach was notified to appear before the Board for a hearing concerning
comdemnation proceedings against his property at 1400-1402 North "G" Street.
Mr. Ach did not appear.
George D. Allen was notified to appear before the Board on this date for a hearing
concerning his property at 724 North 19th Street. Mr. Allen did not appear. City
Engineer Sherick moved that the Board Affirm the order of the Building Commissioner
seconded by City Cntroller Tiffanyto Building Comm ssioner Sligar will advertise
for bidders to raze the building.
City Engineer Sherick reported that the Indiaa State Board of Health has aproved
the plans and specifications for a Sanitary Sewer and lift station for the Riley
Hills Sub-Division.
The Board set August 15 for public hearings for Improvement Resolution No. 1055-
1963, Sanitary Sewer - Northwest "L" Street and Improvement Resolution No. 1056-
1963, Sanitary Sewer - River Court.
The Board awarded the bid to construct a sanitary sewer in the Parry Field Area
to the low bidder: DeBolt Concrete Co., Inc. Their bid is $73,565.00.
