HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-20-1963 8 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND .SAFETY JUNE 20. 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following business was had to wit : The Board approved a request by Ed Goins, representing the Noon-Optimist Clubjto hold the annual Opti-Derby July 14, 1963 on North "E" Street, blocking off the Street from the entrance to Glen Miller Park to 21st street , subject to Police Department Traffic Division supervision. Harry Chenoweth Sr. appeared before the Board concerning parking on the sidewalk between Main Street and the alley on South 12th Street, the Board instructed City Engineer Sherick to investigate the matter. John Judge, representing the Richwood Sub-division Builders , presented a plat of the 1st section to be built on West Main Street . The plat has 30 lots. Police Officer goons, reported that the 1963 Vehicle Check has been completed ,and submitted a summary to the Board. The summary showed 10,860 vehicles checked with 1,971 defects found. The Board authorized Officer goons to remove the loading zone sign on North 8th Street at Tag's Taxi Cab Co. and install a parking meter. the Board approved the request of Officer Coons to take a police cruiser to Connersville Saturday June 22 , to participate in the sesquidentennial parade. The local Civilian Defense Auxiliary Police will also help with handling the traffic at Connersville. The Board approved a curb cut, requested by Glen Reece, for a private drive way at 1332 South 6th Street of 14 ' . The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for Street Materials, the proofs were approved and or- dered file.
