BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
JUNE 6. 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding. All members present; the following business
was had to wit :
Gurney Mann, Howard Holthouse and Ross Harrington, residents of Henley
Road South, appeared before the Board concerning a water line for fire
protection for that area. The Board will request a meeting with Water
Works Superinterdant John Behee to work something out.
The Board approved a parade June 27, 1963 at 2 :00 PM, requested by John
A Snyder of Montgomery Wards, in conjunction with the annual bicycle
rodeo and safety program. The parade is to be from Wards on South 9th
Street to Glen Miller Park.
Red Stephenson of Moto-Mower reported that all the utilities are in and
that equipment for the factory will be moved in starting next week,
and inquired about the improvement of Industries Road. Street Commissioner
Lawrence was instructed to install the base for the road starting Monday
June 10.
The Board approved a request by Fire Chief Klotz to send Cleo Rheuble
of the fire department to Camp Limberlost at LaGrange, Indiana for the
Red Cross Life Saving Instruction School from June 9 through June 19, 1963.
City Engineer Sherick reported that the State Board of Health has approved
111 the plans and specifications for Sanitary Sewers in Toschlog Road to
serve the Salisbury East Sub-division.
The Board approved a recommendation by Police Chief Conyers to appoint
Ronald W. Chestnut as a probationary patrolman, effective June 12, 1963.
The Board accepted the resignation of Evron Smetak, secretary in the
Police Department, effective June 8, 1963.
The Board approved time off for three members of the Police Department
to attend army training at summer camps as follows :
Joseph E. White - - - -Camp Grayling - - - July 18 to August 4
Donald E. Kolentus- - -Camp Grayling - - - July 20 to August 4
Allen D. Baker Camp McCoy June 30 to July 14
The Board approved a curb cut of 20 ' for private drive at 335 South 7th
Street for St. Paul Nazarene Church.
