HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 1361., ~ CHAPTER 2 ARTICLE 2 Sec. 2-26: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE INAUGURATION DATE FOR NEWLY ELECTED OFFICERS OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Section 3-2-2 of the Illinois Revised Statutes (1989) provides that the terms of elected municipal officers shall commence at the first regular or special meeting of the corporate authorities during the month of April following the proclamation of the results of the regular municipal election at which such officers were elected, except as may otherwise be provided by ordinance affixing the date for inauguration of newly elected officers of a municipality; and WHEREA5, no such ordinance shall affix a time for inauguation of newly elected officers later than the first regular or special meeting of the corporate authorities in the month of May following such election, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: Sec. 2-26-1: That the time for inauguration of newly elected officers for the Village of Plainfield shall commence at the first regular or special meeting of the corporate authorities in the month of May following such election, This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as required by law.
