HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-16-1963 65 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MAY 16, 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following business was had to wit : Fire Chief Klotz reported that he has had complaints of trash and fill dirt in the vicinity of the Robinson Coal Yard at 1644 North "J" Street , the Clerk was instructed to request the presence of Mr. L. Robinson at the May 23rd Board of Works Meeting. The Board approved a request by George D. Allen that he be issued a temporary building permit to improve his property that cOMd6Mngtion proceedings hive been filed against by the Commissioner of Buildings, permit to be secured within 15 days for property at 724 North 19th St. The Clerk was instructed to prepare an Ordinance to have City owned property at South 6th and "E" Street appraised for the possibility of selling the land. The Board approved a recommendation by the Police Department Traffic Division to restrict parking on the North side of Northwest "K" St. in the 400 block, and no parking in the same blbck on the south side from 7 :00 AM to 4 :00 PM, also to restrict parking on both sides on Northwest 4th St . in the 1200 block. The Board approved a request by the Police Department Traffic Division to install a four (4) way stop sign at South 4th and "P" St . The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to send Patrolman Louis Gibbs to the Fire Arms Instruction School at Indiana University June 1-7. The Board approved two (2) swimming pool areas , suhject to the compliance to building code regulations at the Kingston Green _Apartments and the Holiday Inn Motel. The Board instructed the Engineering Department to inspect the Streets in the Crestdale Sub-Division, as they have received reports of the bad condition of the Streets City Controller Tiffany reported that a representative of the Battelle Institute of Columbus , Ohio would be here May 23, 1963 to discuss their bid to prepare the Master Plan. The Board of Public Works approved the proof of publication, concerning the vacation of a part of a street and a part of an alley between S4ubh "P" St. and South "Q" Street, the Eaton Manufacturing Company and the Wallace Sheet MetallProducts, Inc. are the abutting land owners. The publication and recording costs are to be borne by the Eaton MPn- ufacturing Company. The Board ordered the Clerk to notify-,the: Richmond Power and Light to Install adequate street lighting on South 2nd St. between South "A" and !°B" Streets.
