HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-02-1963 64 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MAY 2, 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following bus- iness was had to wit: Mr. Earl Beck, General Manager of the Richmond Power and Light, reported that he was interested in lighting up the intersection at the entrance to the RP & L at South 9th St . and US 27, the Board approved the recommend- ation subject to state highway approval. Mr. Beck also, asked that the traffic island atc?the entrance be investigated as he thought it confusing to the motorist on leaving the plant , referred to Captain Stout, Traffic Department. Mr. John Urmston, 2739 South "C" Plade appeared before the Board to re- quest two (2) curb cuts at 3501 East Main Street , for a proposed drive-in car wash. The Board approved the request subject to Mr. Urmston obtaining State Highway Dept. permits. The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers that he attend the Annual Police Chiefs ' Association Conference at south Bend June 16-19. The Board approved the Richmond Power and Light estimate number 2444, to install 12-400 Watt Mercury Vapor Street Lights on Aluminum Poles, on the South "G" St. Bridge. The Board announced that the City Building would be closed May 7, 1963 - primary election day, except City Court would hold the regular morning session. from South llth St. to the E. line of the property 1107 A petition for a sanitary sewer on South "M" Street/y\was referred to the Engineering Department to prepare an estimate and to check property owners. An estimate for street lighting on Liberty Avenue, and an estimate for a street light on the Abington Pike, from the Richmond Power and Light were referred to the Engineering Department for study and recommendation. Mayor Cutter reported that ground breaking ceremonies for the new apart- ments on Chester Blvd. would be held Wednesday morning, May 8, 1963.
