HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-25-1963 62 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY APRIL 25. 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Att- orney Cecere presiding. All Members were present. The following business was had to wit: George Steins and Clem Zwissler of the Board of Zoning Appeals, appeared before the Board to discuss various regulations set forth for the Richmond Plaza Shopping Center in their building permit that have not been adhered to, such as/six (6) foot fence on the south, east, and west sides of the property and the dedication of sufficent land on the east side for a twenty (20' ) foot alley; car stops on the northwest side of the parking lot; and other items agreed on. City attorney Cecere reported that he would write to San S. Schahet, owner of the Center informing him that it is the decision of both Boards that all the agreements be complied with. The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for the construction of a paved alley between North 12th & 13th Streets , from North "D" to North "E" Street . City Attorney Cecere reported that the proof was in order and ordered it filed. -Two (2) bids were filed with the Clerk: Robinson Bros. of Centerville, Indiana $4006.00 Julius Gerken of Richmond, Indiana $3905.95 The Board ruled out the bid of Gerken, as it was not submitted on the pre- scribed form. City Controller Tiffany moved that the bid of Robinson Bros. be accepted as it was under the estimate of $4010.00, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. Payment will be made by property owners under the Barrett Law. The Board instructed Building Commissioner Sligar to preceed with the condemnation proceedings against the building owned by Walter Pierson at 2225 South "L" Street, and to issue a tentative building permit to build a new house on the lot witiin 90 days . _ The Board approved a request subject to Police Traffic Department super- vision to move a house from south 13th. Street to 1240 South 16th St . by Lloyd Bertch. The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to attend an instruc- tion school on bank robbery invedtigation at Indianapolis with two detec- tives on April 30, 19631 The Board approved a request by Robert Rees of the R P & L for the City to constuct a curb for protedtion of a street light at North 7th & "A" Streets (Powell's Tire) , and for the R P & L to constvuct bases for the protection of Street Lights at east First & Main (Gennets) and west First and Main (Texaco) . The Board approved a request by Sanitarian T. Atkinson to attend a sani- tation school at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, April 29 - May 3, 1963. Thetoard approved a request by the Roney Insurance Co. to change a parking meter on North 8th St. in front of the company from 2 hours to 15 minutes. A proposal by Porter Poster Co.to purchase City owned property between South 9th and US 27 south was taken under advisement. There being no further business the meeting adjourned: .
