HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-04-1963 59 NO MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY WAS HELD ON APRIL 11, 1963 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY APRIL 4. 1963 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City - Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following business was had to wit: Approx. 50 persons attended the public hearing for assessment roll No. 1048-1962, the construction of a sanitary sewer in the Hosapple Addition: City Attorney Cecere explained the Barrett Law method of paying the assessment. City Controller Tiffany moved that the roll be confirmed, • seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board adopted Improvement Resolution No. 1053-1963, "To construct a conceete alley between North 12th & 13th Streets from North "D" St. to North "E" St. (20' wide) under the Barrett Law. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bidders, to be opened April 25, 1963 at 10 AM in the Board of Works room. • . The Board approved a request by Inspector R. Snavldy to attend the Annual Conference ofthe Association of Weights & Measures at South Band, April 13-14-15, 1963. The Board approved a -request for a curb cut at the Eaton Mfg. Co. South 7th & "0" Street. The Board approved the installation of two (2) Street Lights by the RP&L, one on the Waterfalls Road and one at the entrance to Hale Terrace on the Henley Road. The Board instructed City Engineer Sherick to check the Alley at the rear of the Richmond Glove Co. and stake out the Cities right-of-way, and also, for the need of streetilights. Building Commissioner Sligar filed his first quarter report with the Board which showed an increase in permits issued over the same period in 1962. The Board instructed the building commissioner, restaurant inspector, sanitary inspedtor, and fire chief to check the midget stadium prepar- atory to the opening of the racing season, and report back to the Board the results of their investigation as to the condition of the stadium. The Board approved the recommendation of City Controller Tiffany to dispose of the obsolete equipment in the Gpmewell room andrrmove the office of theCivilian Defense department in, The office space now used by the C.D. will be used by the City Sanitarians. The Board instructed Building Commissioner Sligar to rescind the permit Ito improve the building at 405 North "D" Street,:owned by Merle Hudelson and J. Pugh and to proceed with condemnation as no effort has been made to improve the property. Restaurant Sanitarian C. E. Goins in conjunction with the Police Traffic Department submitted a list of rules for Mr. Softee & Freeser-Fresh Units, selling ice cream and soft drinks from vehicles on the citjr!s streets. The list is as follows: RULES FOR MOBILE UNITS Re : Mr. Softee & Freezer-Fresh Unite 1. In school areas, please do not park adjacent to school property. 2. Clean up in area at least 100 feet after soliciting at one stop for any length of time. 3. Serve from curb side only. 4. No patrolling in residential areas after 9:00 P.M. 5. No parking in restricted zones or bus stops. 6. No parking or stopping on Whitewater Boulevard from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. 7 . No double parking at any time. 8.
