HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-21-1963 57 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MARCH 21 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding - All membert present - The following business was had to wit : . Ili Rogers Bird Extermination Co. , Inc . submitted a proposal to rid the east end of the 20th Century Bridge of Pigeons , Sparrows and Starlings for $200.00. City Controller Tiffany moved that the proposal be accepted, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. A petition for sidewalks on the west side of northwest 13th Street, West. Main Street 189 feet north, was referred to the City Engineering Department to check property owners and prepare an estimate. Mayor Cutter reported that the Richmond Jaycees were sponsoring a "Know Your Government" program in the Council Chambers of the City Building with City Officials summarizing their responsibilities, March 30, 1963, from 1: 30 to 3:00 PM. The general public is invited. Mayor Cutter said the team hired by the Richmond Real Estate Board to make a survey of housing and buildings in areas that need to be redeveloped , would meet with him and other department heads April 1, 1963, the date they expect to start the survey. Gene Brehm and Harry Thomas, representatives of Kemper ixopeefppeared before the Board to request approval to construct a tube over South III "N" Street to carry sawdust from the old pattern shop to the main Natco building, the sawdust to be used for heating purposes, the tube over the street having the proper clearance. G a � - p eE� r The Board approved a curb cut for a private drive for the Hayes Track and Appliance Co. at 120 North 3rd St . p Gr-r t� The Board signed a contract with the Henry B. Steegs, Associates for engineering services in connection with the 1963 storm sewer construction program: 1. Berry Field Area 2 . Henley Rd . and Southeast "E" St . Area 3. Southwest 1st St . & Southwest "H11 St. Area 4. Southwest "G" St . & College Avenue Area 5. Reeveston Road - 24th to 28th Street Area The Board moved to amend the priority schedule for the street lightilig program be dropping No. 5 (Sheridan Street) to number 6 - and No. 5 as follows : #5 - From Richmond Avenue, north on Northwest 5th Street to the III Williamsburg pike, thence east to the Waterfalls Road. The Board instructed Street Commissioner Lawrence to make a survey of the condition of the Citj;'s Streets and and report his findings to the Board A complaint of speeding trucks and their blowing of air horns referred to the Board of Works from Councilman Youngflesh was referred to Police Chief Conyers .
