BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MARCH 14, 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding. All members present. The following business
was had to wif:
The Board signed a contract with the Rogers Pest Control Co. for $300.00 -
to exterminate the birds 'under the bridge at North 9th & "E11 streets.
The Board signed a proposal submitted by representatives of the Richmond
lodge of Eagles for the purchase of the City owned Garfield School lot,
for the appraised price of $57,500.00, subject to approval by the Richmond
Common Council , and the Grand Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Fire Chief Klotz reported that an agreement had been reached with the
Richmond Water Works Corporation 6or the Installation of the following
fire hydrants :
(3) '- from 2600 block to 2800 block on Northwest "BR St.
(1) - on Southeast corner of 28th Street & Northwest "A" St.
(1) on South 24th St . and Locust Lane.
(1) ® on 24th St. and "G" St .
(1) ® on Henley Rd. and Dorothy Lane
(1.) ® on Dorothy Lane and Geraldine Lane
/(f) on south of Hale Terrace on Henley Road.
(5) ® East of Sycamore Rd. to US #40 & #35 intersection.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare an amendment to the Traffic Ordinance,
concerning the definition of Bicycle o Section 1-41
The Board approved a request by the Y-Teens to- have a "Tag Day" for the
Cancer Society, April 20, 1963 - from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 7th, 8th,
9th, and Main Streets.
The Board granted permission for the annual washing of highway signs,
to the local chapter of D3Molays , 'Saturday March 23, 1963, they will have
policeWscort for their protection.
The Perfect Circle Corporation dedicated a tract of land to the City off
of Ruhlin Road , to be used as a righta,of-way for egress and ingress to
the Moto-Mower factory.
The Board prepared a Street lighting priority schedule to be submitted
to the Richmond Power and Light , as follows:
1. From east 1st Street west to West 5th St . , thence South to
intersection of SW 5th & National Road
2. East Main Street from Henley Road (30th St . ) east to Elks
Country Club Road.
3. North 12th Street from East Main St. to City Limits .
4. South 18th St. from South "A" St . to East Main St .
5. Sheridan. St. from bridge north to the Intersection of Williams- - .
burg Pike & State highway #35.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
