HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-07-1963 515 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ANDDSAFETY MARCH 7. 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members present. The following bus- iness was had to wit :. IIIThe Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for two (2) new 1963 automobiles for the use of the police department , City Attorney Cecere reported that the proofs appeared to he in order, City Controller Tiffany moved that the proofs be accepted and filed. The following bids were opened: Raper Sales, Inc.. - - - 2-1961 Chev. Station Wagons - Trade in $3153.94 - Net Dea Meadows Ford Sales -" " " " " " U " U " U " " " 3328.78 - " City Controller Tiffany moved that the low bid of Raper Sales , Inc. be accepted . Seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board adopted a preliminary resolution (1053-1963) to improve the alley between North 12th & 13th Streets , from North "D" to North "E" Street, by paving with concrete, the Clerk was instructed to notify property owners of a public hearing April 4, 1963. The Board confirmed Assessment Roll No. 1048-1962 , the construction of a sanitary sewer in the Hosapple Addition. A public hearing has been set for April 4, 1963. 111 William Meinson appeared before the Board , concerning the washing out of a ditch at South 3rd and "Q" Street. The matter was referred to the City Engineer to confer with the sanitery district for the poss- ibility of constructing a cement retaining wall. At the request of the Board, representatives of the RichmondPlaza Shopping Center, met with the Board to discuss certain items that have not been complied with in the construction of the Center. Re- prewenting the Center were San S . Schahet , owner; Al Harding, general contractor; and Robert Fischer, general foreman. After a discussion the following was agreed upon, that : The Richmond Plaza Shopping Center would (1) - Engage the Richmond Water Co. to install one (1) fire hydrant in front and one (1) in the rear of the Center. (2) - Plant Hedge along the East side of the Center - with ped- estrian opening. (3) - Install hurricane fence and screening trees at the rear of the Center. (4) - Work out something in the shrubbery line for the West end of the Center and install car stops where needed to keep automobiles from running over the bank. (5) - Dedicate alley on the east side of Center to the City of Richmond, Indiana, (sufficent land for a 20' alley) . The Board commended the Fire Department for work done during the recent high water, caused by melting snow and rains - pumping water out of flooded basements , etc. There being no further business the meeting adjourned . _ Andrew C.
