BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAVETY
FEBRUARY 28, 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall at
9:00 AM with City Attorney Ciecere, President of the Board, presiding. All
members present, the following business was had to witl
Mr. Ford Roan, 133 South llth Street-submitted the following bids ,to raze
the following condemned buildings.
- 405 North "D" 'Street 299. 50 III
132 Colfax Ave. 199 .50
1641 South 6th Street- - - - - - 99. 50
(Blanket Bid for all 3 houses- - 560.00)
City Controller Tiffany moved that the bids be taken under advisement,
seconded by City Engineer Sherick.
The Board approved a recommendation by Police Chief Conyers to send three
.(3) new Police Officers-Richard Shoemaker, Donald Kolentus and Allen Baker
to the Basic Training Course for Indiana Law Enforcement Officers at Purdue
University, March 18 through March 29-1963.
The Board approved a recommendation by Police Chief Conyers to appoint John
Ross, 1014 South "F" Street to the Police Department as a probationary police-
man, effective March 6, 1963.
Mr. John Behee, Manager of the Richmond Water Works Corporation met with the
Board to discuss a program for the installation of water mains and fire hy-
drants in the new areas of the City that has not as yet been provided with
water and fire protection. Mr. Behee said that the engineering has been com-
pleted in most of the areas and work would be started by April 1,1963, weather
permitting,
- Mr. Behee reported that the water pressure would be raised by 59 pounds in
the southeastern part of the City this spring.
The Board instructed Fire Chief Klotz to' prepare a list of fire hydrants to
be installed by the. Richmond Water Works Corporation on existing mains that
are necessary for fire protection in areas that water mains have been extended.
°The Board approved an agreement for Construction of a sanitary sewer under
private contract , dated February 11, 1963, between H .I .R. Inc. , Mike Delucio
& Son and the City of Richmond, Indiana governing sewer along the north
siddeof US Highway #40 from Hayes Arboretum Rd . to a point approx. 1050 ft.
east thereof at the east edge of. Richmond , Indianae
