HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-21-1963 5'3 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SA10ETY FEBRUARY 21. 196 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall at 9:00 AM with City Attorney Cecere, President of the Board, presiding. All members present, the following business was had to wit: Elmer J. Pugh, 2609 New Paris Pike appeared before the Board, concerning property at 405 North t'D`r Street, that condemnation proceedings have been filed against by the Commissioner of Buildings. The Board instructed Mr.. Pugh to submit a list of improvements- that he intended to make to the build- ing and he would be issued a temporary permit for 60 days. The Board granted Bud-Cox permission to move 4 houses from the 1600 block of South 7th Street to-3 in the 300 block of Oakland Ave. and 1 in the 1400 block of South 16th Street, subject to Police Traffic Department supervision as to route and time. The Board approved the recommendation of Police. Chief Conyers to appoint Dudley Gene Goodwin, as a probationary patrolman, -effective March 1, 1963. Police Chief Conyers submitted -specifications for two (2) new 1963 4 door station wagons, sealed bids will be opened Thursday, March 7, 1963, by the Board of Works. The Board approved curbs cuts on Chester Blvd. North of Berry Field, for the proposed new apartment house project, subject to State Highway Department approval. Fire Dhief Klotz presented a letter of resignation from Captain Kenneth Yeager to the Board.. Mr., Yeager said that he enjoyed the 29 years service, and thanked the Board for good working conditions and steady employment throughout the years. The Board accepted the resignation with regret and instructed the Clerk to convey a message of appreciation for Mr. Y ger 's long and meritorious service to the city and community. (effective date Feb- ruary 24, 1963) The Board approved the recommendation by Fire Chief Klotz to promote Keith Burdsall to temporary Captain to replace Captain Yeager at Hose House#4. The Board accepted the low bid of 61881. 76, submitted by the Raper Sales, Inc. for a new 1963 Dodge 2 Door Sedan for the use of the Dairy Inspector. The Board accepted the low bid of 32961.94, submitted by the Raper Sales, Inc. for two( 2) new 1963 Dodge 4 Door Station Wagons, for the use of the Police. Department.
