BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
FEBRUARY 7. 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall
at 9:00 AM with City Attorney Cecere, President of the Board, presiding.
All members present, the following business was had to wit :
IIIMr. Roy Snyder, 934 South llth Street appeared before the Board to re-
gister a complaint concerning the bad condition fo the street in the
900 Block. The Board referred the matter to the Engineering Depart-
ment to check.
The board approved a recommendation by Asst. Fire Chief Malvern Pride
that Jan Vogelsong and George Young be advanced to "Regular Firemen",
having servedmthe one year probationary period. Vogelsong's effective
date being February 5, 1963 and Young's effective date being February
6, 1963. (Fire Chief Klotz is out of the City)
William Addler, Parking Meter Department reported that all meters were
back in operation that were damaged by vandals. City Controller Tiffany,
- speaking for the Board ,commended the Police Department for arresting
the vandals so soon after the destruction of the meters.
The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Mrs. Luellen B. Drake to appear
before the Board of Works February 14, 1963 for a hearing concerning
her preperty at 922 North llth Street, which is under condemnation
proceedings.
IThe Board authorized City Controller Tiffany to advertise for bids for
new parking meters to replace meters destroyed by vandals and to replace
old meters on parking lots.
City Controller Tiffany reported that the furnace at the City Buklding
was down twice this week because of failure to the electric eye and the
pump.
The Board referred complaints of the bad condition of River Court Street
to Street Commissioner Lawrence to 'epair.
A request for a street light by Leonard Hardwick at 56 Waterfall Road
was referred to the Richmond Power and Light for study and recommendation.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
