HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-31-1963 51) BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY JANUARY 31. 1963 The Board of Public Yorks and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present. The following business was had to wit : - Wm.Edwin Ross, Supt. of the Sanitary Distruct appeared before the Board to submit a notice that the dump at the sewage Treatment Works on Test Road will be closed for dumping Saturday noon February 16, 1963 because of complaints of foul odors resulting from the burning of the debris. Ross said that persons dumping there will have to find another area or use the landfill of the Richmond Sanitary District - West Highland Road. Police Chief Conyers wan instructed to police the area for per- sons dumping outside the locked gate. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for sealed bids to be opened Feb- ruary 14, 1963 ,.for the two (2) automobiles for the use of the Police Department and one (1) for the use. of the Dairy Inspector - Cars are to be new 1963 models. The Clerk was instructed to prepare an Ordinance to amend section 14 of the parking meter ordinance No. 1351-1948 - to charge fifty cents ($,50) for overtime parking, instead of one dollar ($1.00) providing that the fine for the violation is paid on the same day & date. The Board discussed at length the possibility of re-developement of the "Core Area", and instructed the Clerk to ask the Council to meet after the regular meeting Feb. 4, 1963 to discuss the matter. The Board complimented Street CommissionerLawrence on the Street De- partment 's efficient handling of the snow situation the past few weeks. The Board approved a request by Fire Chief Klotz to attend the annual Fire Administrators Conference at Purdue University February 5-6-7, 1963. R. E. Snavely, Weights & Measures Inspector, submitted his Monthly Re- prot showing 4027 packages & loads checked during January 1963. There being no further business the meeting adl,'ourned.
