BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
JANUARY 24. 1963
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall
at 9:00 AM with City Attorney Cecere presiding: _ All members present -
The following business was had to wit:
Ned Berheide 222 North 10th Street appeared before the Board to request
a Street Light be removed at the entrance to the Stegall-Berheide-Orr
Funeral Home that has been hit by cars several times, Mr. Berheide said
the light from the parking lot gives enough light for the Street, the
matter referred to the Richmond Power and Light .
Robert Backmeyer with his attorney,Bert Keller, appeared beforethe
Board to register a complaint of foul oddrs in the vicinity of the Test
Road caused by the burning of debris- at the Sanitary District grounds
South of the Test Bridge. City Engineer Sherick will bring the matter
to the attention of the Sanitary Board.
Police Chief Conyers submitted specifications for two (2) new 4-door
stations for the use of the Police Department to be advertised for bids.
The Board approved a request to recommend to Council that the Overtime
Parking Section of the Parking Meter Ordinance be amended to allow per-
sons in violation to pay one-half price if fine is paid the same day as
ticket is dated.
An estimate for Street Lights to be replaced with the new type between
the Henly Road and the Elks Country Club Road, and an estimate of a Street
Light to be installed between 14th and 15th Streets on North "B" Street
were referred to the Engineering Department for sttOy.
Repair of the bridge on Hawkins Road and the resurfacing of a section of
Bridge Street, referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety from
Common Council, will be discussed with the Street Department by City Con-
troller Tiffany.
The Clerk wqs instructed to notify the following persons to appear before
the Board of Public Works and Safety (by registered letter) concerning
condemnation proceedings against their properties:
Ferris Nibarger 132 Colfax Avenue
Ann Silliman 527 North 19th St.
Merle Hudelson 405 North "D" St & 1641 South 6th St.
