HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-17-1963 48 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY JANUARY 17. 1963 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall at 9:00 AM with City Attorney Cecere, President of the Board presiding. All members present A the following business was had to wit : Representatives of Rogers Bird Exterminating Company appeared be- fore the Board, with proposals to exterminate birds at various loca- tions in the City. The Clerk was instructed to prepare an ordinance for the appropriation of $500.00 for the project. Specifications were submitted to the Board for a new automobile for the use of the Dairy Sanitarian. The Board took the matter under advise- ment to study the specifications. The hoard approved a request by Fire Chief Klotz to sent Asst . Chief Mal Price to the Fire Instruction School at Purdue University January 21-25, 1963. The Board instructed Fire Chief Klotz and City Engineer Sherick to prepare a map with their recommendations an to the location of fire hydrants in the new areas of the City needing fire protection end to check with the Richmond Water Works Corporation, concerning the installation, Captain Spout, Police Traffic Department, reported that all taxi cabs in the City have been inspected and approved, except two (2) that are in the garage for repairs. The hoard approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to send Captain Stout and Officer Coons to the Traffic Institute at Northwestern University February 11 - March 1, 1963, and to send Sergeants Harper, Brannock & Berner, with Captain Martin to Purdue University to attend the Public Safety Institute February 5-6-7, 1963. The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers that the Depart- ment participate in pistol matches with other Police Departments in various Cities of the State. The Board referred a petition for more street lighting on North "B" St. between North 14th and North 15th Streets, to the Richmond Power and Light for recommendation and estimate. The Board instructed City Engineer Sherick to attend the the meeting of the County Commissioners at the Court House Saturday Morning, concerning the bridges in the City.
