HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-03-1963 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY /93 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present . The following business was had to wit: The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set to hear persons interested in Assessment Roll No . 1049-1962 - Curbs , Gutters and Sidewalks on Oakland Street , as no persons appeared to remonstrate against the Roll City Engineer Sherick moved that it be adopted as modi- fied, seconded by City Controller Tiffany. The Board discussed and took under advisement a program of lighting prepared by the Richmond Power and Light for' the area of the National Roae East from Elks Country club Road to; the Ohio State Line, also a request has been made for an estimate foe new Street Lighting between the Henley Road' (30thSt . ) and the Elks Country Club Road. Captain Stout submitted a traffic accident_t-report for 1962 in which the ten most dangerous intersections are as follows : INTERSECTION ' ACCIDENTS 1 - Southwest 5th and Nat 'l Road W. 31 2 - 3200 Blk. East Main Street 18 3 p North 9th and "D" Sts 16 4-- 16th & National Rd. West 14 5 - West 1st & Main St. 13 6 - 1st & East Main St 11 7 - 9th & East Mein St . 10111 8 - 30th & East Main St 9 9 , - Elks Road & East Main St :8 10- 3rd & East Main St. 7 The Board discussed the traffic prob1em between' the Henley Road and the Elks Country Club Road and suggested that Captain" Stout arrange a meeting with property owners to work something out . The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to attend a traffic conference with Captain Stout in Indianapolis, January 8-9, 1963. City Controller Tiffany reported that there has been $800.00 spent on repairs to the boiler" in the City Bldg. and that repairs will have to be made to the Police Photo Lab. and Chief Conyers 'of.fice because of water damage caused by leaks. The Board approved a recommendation by Fire Chief Klotz to appoint Paul Turner as a regular fireman, having served the one year probationary period, effective Januery72 , 1963, The Board appointedz,Haeold Eugene.- tutray:.as a..probationary fireman, eff- ective January 7, 1963. Fire Chief Klotz reported that the department will continue checking the gasoline leak at the Service Station at North 12th and "E" Street until speing . City Controller Tiffany reported that $61,431 .73 had been cobv ected from Parking meters and $16,265. 29 collected from city owned parking lots in 1962 for a total of $77,697.02, which is $1 ,674. 34 more that the total c colleted in 1961 .
