HOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
DECEMBER 20. 1962
The Board of Public Worksriand Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding. Al] members present. The following business
was had to wit
The Board approved and signed the final plats for Quarker Place Addition
(Earlham) and the Harry Price Sub-Division (Hale Terrace) .
Complaints of the condition of Porterfield Avenue referred to the Board
of Works from Common Counci, were discussed . City Controller Tiffany
said the Street signs have been ordered from the Indiana State Industries.
City Engineer Sherick said the field work has been completed for the sewer
and the City will initiate a petition for its construction to start early
in 1963. The street will he improved after the sewer is installed.
The Board instructed City Engineer Sherick to recheck the property owners
to obtain signatures to the petition for disannexation of the Test Bridge
and to submit a report at the mext meeting.
City Controller Tiffany moved that the Board award the bid for the cons-
truction of curbs, gutters , and pavement on South 8th Street (east) from
South "L" to South "M" St. to the Magaw Construction, Ind. (thier bid is
$7,305.00) subject to their sighing of the necessary contracts.
The Board approved a request from Kenneth Paust, representing the Junior
Chamber of Commerce, to place a "MILE OF SMILES" booth at the Soubheast
corner of 8th and Main Street , to collect funds for the March of Dimes
project - Jaycees are to man the booth.
Street Commissioner Lawrence reported a drainage problem between Henley
Road and Reeveston Road. City Engineer Sherick said that the Henry B.
Steegs Associates are working out drainage details for thearea which
will be taken care of with the construction of the storm warer sewer.
Complaints of excessive smoke downtown were discussed, and referred to
Fire Chief Klots to investigate._
The Board approved a request from the office of the Justice of the Peace
on South 4th Street to remove the parking meter in fromt of the office
and reserve the space for the Constable Pauline Brown.
