HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-21-1962 1 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY NOVEMBER 21 . 1962 The hoard of Public Works and Safety met today because of Thanksgiving coming on the regular meeting day. All members present. The following business was had to wit : The Board approved the following estimates and locations for the install- ation of Street Lights :: Estimate No. Lights Location 2350 1 North 18th & "G" Street 2351 1 1300 Blk. South 6th St. 2352 1 Newmans Hill 2349 3 No. 18th St . between "F1° & "G"Stsi 2355 4 Water Falls Rd. - from bridge to wills ' Pike The board ordered the Richmond Power and Light to install 1 Street Light at the Playground in Berry Field and 3 Street Lights in the Clear Creek area, rental to be charged to the Park Department. The Board instructed the Engineering Department to check the alignment of the 1st alley North of Main Street , between 18th & 19th Sts. , for the removal of 2 trees and some shrubbery that interferes with ingress end egress into a garage. The Board approved alequest by Police Chief Conyers to attend the law Enforcement Seminar along with two (2) Detectives November 29, 1962 , at Indianapolis. The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to send Officer Knoob to the Basic Finger Print School at Indianapolis Dec . 3-7. The Board approved a recommendation by Chief Conyers to enforce the park- ing meter Ordinance on Thursday afternoons November 29 through';:December 20. The Board approved on the recommendation of Chief -Conyers the appoint- ment for the one year probationary period in the Police Department the following men: Richard Gayle Shoemaker - 1114 South "C" St. Effective Dec.l '62 Donald E. Kolentus 423•-Grade Drive " " 5 ' 62 Duane Allen Baker 716 Southwest 1st St . " " 12 '62 The Board inssrutted the St. Dept. to grade No. 36th St. , for better water drainage. The Board instructed City Controller Tiffany to notify the State High- way Department of repaint the obedience lines at Southwest 1st & Main 111 Street & Southwest 5th & National Road. City Engineer Sherick moved that the Board terminate the services of Ralph Van Meter as custodian of City Hall effictive Nov. 27 , 1962 , se- conded by City Controller Tiffany. A recommendation to remove parking on the South side of Natiinal Road from Southwest 1st St. to Southwest 3rd St. was referred to Captain Stout for study and recommendation.
