HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-08-1962 BOARD OFARUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY NOVEMBER 8. 1962 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All Members present- the following business was had to wit: City Controller Tiffany reported that the big boiler at the Airport blew up this week. The Insurance company had been notified and es- timates for the repairs are being taken. The Board approved estimate number 2342 by the Richmond Power and Light for the installation of three (30 Street Lights on River Court St. The Board referred an estimate and recommendation for a Street Light on the playground in Berry Field to the Park Department Board. The Board adopted a Resolution for the Improvement of South 8th St . (east) from South "L" to South "M" St . by the construction of curbs, gutters and paved street . (The street is immediately east of the fire station at south 8th and "L2 street) A public hearing is scheduled for November 29, 1962, at 9:00 AM in the Board of Works Room. Captain Stout reported that theStreet Lights are being installed at the entrance to Earlham College this week by the Richmond,Power and Light. pity Attorney reported that the hearing on the water rate boost was Ifinished November 7, 1962 and now the testimony is in the hands of the Commission fOr study and recommendation. City Engineer Sherick reported that the storm sewer installation on South 19th St. has been finished from South "E" to South "G" St. and the cuts in the streets would be repaved as soon as possible. James Ronald,attorney for the Holiday -Inn appeared before the Board, and reported that the Hemry B. Steegs and Associates have been asked to make plans and an estimate for a Sanitary Sewer from the Holiday Inn to tie in with the existing sewer at the Garwood Road. The Board approved the Fire Department installing the Xmas lights as soon as the "BERLIN WALL" is taken down. A complaint of automobiles parking on the sidewalk on North 15th street north of "E" Street wqs referred to Captain Stout. A complaint of a loud speaker used by the Penn. R'. R. in the yards north of Glen Miller Park making too much noise at night calling in- structions to yardmen and on occasions us9ng foul language, was referr- ed to Captain Stour.
