OCTOBER 4, 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Attorney Cecere presiding - City Engineer Sherick was absent. The
following business was had to wit :
The Board received a petition for a Street Light at North 18th and "G"
street by residents _ living in that vicinity, referred to the Richmond
Power and Light for estimate and recommendation. A request for ade-
quate lighting in the 1300 block of South 6th St. , was referred to
the Light Plant for study.
Mr. Lloyd Bertsch appeared before the Board , concerning the condemned
property at 1641 South 6th St. , which he is buying from Merle Hudelson.
The Board granted a 30 day extension of time to take out a building
permit and to report back to the Board in 30 days the status and pro-
gress made towards the improvement of the property.
At the request of .Attorney George Tripp, representing Merle Hudelson
in condemnation proceeding against his property at 405 North "D" St. ,
the Board granted a continuance until October 11, 1962 , for the hearing.
The Board approved a recommendation by the Henry B. Steeg & Associates,
Inc: to appoint Mr. Hal Roach as inspector on the Surface Water Drain-
age project, as provided in the contract the cost of his service will
be a salary of $600.00 per month plus 50% and travel of 10c per mile
on the job.
The Board instructed the Building Commissioner to proceed with con-
demnation procedure against the dwelling owned by Walter and Ester
Pierson at 2225 South "L" St. , as recommended by .the Bureru of
Buildings.
The Board approved two (2) curb cuts requested by Henry' s Drive-In
at Southwest 18th & National Rd. One (1) on 18th and one (1) on
National Rd.
The Board approved the removing of a parking meter on the West side
of North 7thSt . in front of K-B ' s Tavern, and the relocation of the
remaining one , with each end of the island painted yellow.
The Clerk was instructed to advertise for sealed bids for a new Type
"B" Fire Alarm System, bids to be opened October 25, 1962 in the V
Board of Works room in City. Hall.
The Board approved a request for a home-coming parade for Richmond High
School, October 11 , 1962, subject to Police Traffic Department super-
vision.
The Board instructed Captain cut, Traffic Department , to investigate
the intersection at West 7tfl and Main Streets, as to uision for tra-
ffic North and South on 7th St.
The Board signed for a change in cost for additional sewer construc-
tion, recommended .by the Henry B. Steeg & Associates, Inc . of $40,830.00
making the revised contract amount $307,058 .00 for the Surface Water
Drainage Project. (Jouth 16th & South "G" St. )
