HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-20-1962 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ND SAFETY SEPTEMBER 20. 1962 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members present. The following business was had to wit : William Smith of South 24th St. , appeared before the Board, conderning the improvement of the north end of South 24th St. where he has built a new home, and is unable to drive to it, the matter referred to City Con- troller Tiffany. Raymond K. Karch of 429 mouth llth. St. appeared before the Board with a complaint of a water leak in the vicinity that runs into his basement ans a broken curb in front of his house. The Board referred the matter to City Engineer Sherick for investigation. Fire Chief Klotz reported that samples of gasoline have been sent to Purdue University to find out the make that has been leaking in the 7. vicinity of North 10th & "I" Street. , Councilman Yount inquired about the scramble system for pedestrians, a and a discussion was held with the $oarde and Captain Stout, Police Traffic Department . Captain Stout said, the approximate cost per inter- section would be $12s000.00. All agreed the cost would rule out the idea at this time.. Captain /Stout, Police Traffic Deptarment reported that he bwould ask the State Highway Department to make a traffic survey at Southwest 18th and National Road since the openlitg of the Shopping Center is expected II to create a traffic problem there. Mrs. Marie Lowden of 804 South 6th Street appeared before the Board with a complaint of trucks hauling dirt and graVel leaking material on the Street which causes a dust problem. The trucks were identi- fied as being owned by the DeBolt Concrete Co. City Attorney Cecere called Mr. DeBolt and ordered the debris removed from the Street. A request for a Street light at Southwest 18th & "E" St. , . by the Gate - way Builders, was referred to the Richmond Power and Light for an estimate rnd their recommendation. A request for a Street Sign at Southwest 18th & "E" St. in Pine Manor Estates Subdivision second addition was referred to Captain Stout, Police Traffic Division. The Clerk was instructed to set the date of September 27 and notify Mr. Merle Hudelson that h is to appear on that date in regards to condemnation proceedings against his property located at 405 North "D" Street.
