JULY 26, 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City
Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding: All members present -
The Following business was had to wit :
The Board approved 4 curb cuts for the Phillips Petroleum Company,
2 on North "E" and 2 on North 12th St . , for,a service station.
The Foard approed a request for a curb cut for a private drive at
732 Southwest 1st street .
The Board ordered the Richmond Water Works Corporation to install a
fire hydrant at the North end of Iniananpolis Ave.
Prof. Donald M. Royer of Earlham College appeared before the Board,
concerning the location of a Street Light in front of his home.
After consultation with Robert Reece, engineer for the Richmond ,
Power and. Light the Board moved to concur with the recommendation
of the RPL that the Street Light was placed in the best location to
illuminate the area.
The Baord approved a request by Building .Commissioner Donald Sligar
to attend the Annual Building Commissioners Conference at Michigan
City, Indiana., August 13-14-15 .
Councilman Yount presented 3 items of information to the Board :
Traffic Sign at North 6th & "A" Street - leaning-Referred to RPL
Vision Blocked by signs at No. 10th & "H" St . 1P " Police
Vacation of a small strip of land on Waterfalls Rd . " " ENGR.
City Engineer Sherick reported that the traffic islands now under
construction would be completed in 10 days .
The Board approved a circus parade for the Tarum Shrine Club, sub-
ject to the co-operation with the ,Police Traffic Department, Aug. 15,1962 .
The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to send Capt.
Woolf to the Indiana State Juvenile Association Conference, at Evans-
ville, Indiana , August 3-4.
The Board approved a recommendation by Police Chief Conyers to appoint
James Edwin Hieger, 511 Northwest 5th St . , .as a probationary patrol-
man, effective August 1, 1962.
City Attorney Cecere submitted a proposal to purchase the City owned
lot at North 8th & "C" St . for bhe appraised value of $2500.00 from
Clarence N. Downs. An Ordinance to be prepared to present to the Common
Council for approval , also an Ordinance will be presented to Common
Council for the sale of three (3) tracts to Earlham College for the
appraised value of $745.50.
City Engineer Sherick reported that the plans for storm sewers in the
vicinity of South "G" & "J" Streets would be submitted .to the Board.
for approval by the Henry B. Steegs & Assiciates August 16, 1962 ;
and the plans for the Interceptor & Storm Relief in the vicinity
of the Southeast Parkway, August 27, 1962.
The Board approved the Sub-Division Plat for the Earlham South Sub-
Division Addition, and the Plat for sewers in the Charles Second
Addition.
