BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
JULY 12 , 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety, met in regular session in
City Hall with City Attorney•;-Ceeere presiding: City L°ontroller
Tiffany absent (on vacation) . The following business was had to
wit :
The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set
to hear persons interested in Assessment Roll No. 1046-1962 . The
assessment for the sewer on Indiana Ave. The proofs were accepted
and ordered files . No remonstrators appeared against the Assess-
ment, City Engineer Sherick moved that the Adsesstneht bee®nf&rmeIT i_
with two (2) exceptions . The assessments of William McQueen and
Mark Miller be reduced from $441.94 each to $250.00 each - City
to pay $191.94 each, seconded by Lity Attorney Cecere.
City Attorney Cecere reported that Indiana Avenue would be paved
this summer, in reference to complaints submitted concerning the
bad condition of the street . •
The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been
set to hear persons interested in preliminary Resolution No . 1048-
1962 . The construction of Sanitary Sewers in the Hosapple Addition,
as no remonstrators appeared against the Resolution, City Attorney
Cecere moved that the Resolution be confirmed , seconded by City
Engineer Sherick, The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bidders
for the construction, to be opened August 2 , 1962.
The Board approved a request for a curb cut by the Wayne Dairy,
of 20 ° on the North side of South "A" Street, for a private drive
between South 5th & 6th Streets .
The Board gned plermits".for cuts-across oUS i 4O at Gerwood Road
for the Richmond Water Works Corporation to construct water lines
for the East Gate Shopping Center, subject to State approval .
Mrs . Philip Carey informed the Board of her intention to organize
a Teem Age Group in co-operation with the Indianapolis Organiza-
tion to solicit funds for the St . Jude Hospital in Memphis , Tenn.
for research for aiding leukemia stricken children.
The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to attend the
International Police Chiefs conference in St. Louis , Mo. October
6-11, 1962 .
William Adler, Parking Meter Department reported that work hag
started on the South 5th-6th Street City Parking Lot.
Robert Lloyd, Backmeyer Road appeared before the Board, concerning
a water problem on his property, the Board referred the matter to
Street commissioner Lawrence and City Engineer Sherick for a solution.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
