BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
July 5, 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City
Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding: All members present - The
following business was had to wit :
The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set
to hear persons interested in Assesment .Roll 1043-1961, for the Asses-
ment of the construction of a Sanitary Sewer in South llth Street , from
"0" Street , North 375 feet . Emmitt Rice and other Property owners
appeared for information concerning the assessment . City Controller
Tiffany moved that the roll be confirmed, seconded by City Engineer
Sherick.
Karl Kolger, attorney for Earl N. Daggy appeared before the Board,
Concerning the vacation of a dedicated street - the extension of south
west "A" - southwest 20th & Western Drive, the matter referred to the
Engineering Department for study and recommendation.
The Clerk presented proof of publication that this date had been set
to open sealed bids for the improvement of the City owned parking lot
at South "A" street between 5th & 6th Streets. City Controller Tiffany
moved that the bid be awarded to the Magaw Construction Co. on their
bid of $4870 .00 , seconded by City Engeneer Sherick.
A petition to modernize the Street Lighting on Northwest 5th Street ,
was referred to the Richmond Power and Light for study, estimate and
recommendation.
A request for the relocation of a street light , by Donald M Royer, 720
Southwest 5th St. was referred to the Richmond Power and Light , for
recommendation.
Complaints of the bad condition of the streets in the vicinity of the
Johns-Manville factory referred to the Board of Works from the Common
Council, will be brought up in a meeting by the Board and factory official
City Engineer Sherick submitted a standard driveway specification form
to be used for curb cut permits. The Board approved the form and in-
structed Sherick to have the forms printed.
The Board approved the sewer plans, submitted by the Engineering Departmer
for the proposed new housing project for ma'eried students at Earlham
College.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned:
