Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding: All members present - The following business was had to wit: The Board granted permission to John Daily, contractor for the Eastgate Shopping Center, to construct a 40 ' drive way into Gar- wood Road approx. 280 feet south of US #40, and a service drive entrance at . the Southern Bou ndry of the Shopping Center property and the Garwood Road. The Board approved a curb cut of 16' for a private drive at 714 South "H" St. , requested by Virgil Naylor. Mr. Skeets Thompson, owner of the Dairy Queen DriveIn at South 9th and "K" Sts appeared before the Board with a complaint of excessive water. running onto his lot. Fa1lde Chief.Conyers presented the Board a letter of resignation from- the Police Department from Milo Brann, Captain Braiiii became a member of the Richmond Police Department May 16, 1942. The Board moved to accept Captain Brann's resignation with regret, and instructed the Clerk to prepare a letter of appreciation for the 20 years service to the community and the city of Richmond. (effec- tive date June 18, 1962. ) City Controller Tiffany moved to approve the recommendation of Police Chief Conyers to appoint Ronald Phenis as a regular patrol- man, having completed successfully the one year probationary per- iod, seconded by City Attorney Cecere, effective June 1, 1962. The Board granted permission to Sanitarians Goins and Atkinson to attend the Sanitarians ' Conference at the Indiana University Center in Indianapolis, June 12-14, 1962. The Board granted permission to Sanitarian Atkinson to attend a Water Conference in Muncie June 5-6, 1962. The Board authorized City Controller Tiffany to advertise for 35 new parking meters for the South 5th St. City owned parking lot. City Controller Tiffany moved to award the coal bid to Muff Coal & Oil Co. , seconded by City Engineer Sherick. Prices are: 5-ton Ky. Lump e412.95 per ton 20 " Pod. Mine Run 13.75 " " 75 " Mesh Stoker 9.75 " " City Controller Tiffany moved to award the fuel oil contract to Marshall Oil Co. , seconded by City Engineer Sherick. Prices are: #1 Fuel Oil - 12.2 per gal. - - #2 Fuel Oil - 11.2 Per gal. City Controller Tiffany moved to award the Gasoline contract to Warfield Oil eo, . seconded by City Engineer Sherick. Prices Are: FIRM - - 18.9 per gal. - - 190 Blend - - 92.5 Octane The Board moved to award tle Salt contract of the International Salt Co. at $14.40 per torn.
