MAY 24, 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City
Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding - All members present -
The following business was had to wit:
The a1erk presented proofs of publication that this date had been
set to open sealed bids for gasoline, fuel oil and various street
materials for the use of the City Richmond, from June 1, 1962 to,
June 1, 1963. City Attorney Cecere moved that the proffs be accept-
ed. and filed, seconded by City Controller Tiffany.

City Controller Tiffany moved that the gasoline, fuel oil and var-
ious street material bids be taken under advisement for study and
recommendation, seconded by City Engineer Sherick.
The Board approved a recommendation from the Police Traffio: Depar-t-
mentto rests ct parking Memori8l Day, on the South Side. of the, Street
East Main from 3rd to 17th and 2nd to 3rd on National Road West.
The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to send three
' (3 ) officers to the National Red Cross Aquatic Training School,
June 10-20, 1962 at Limberlost Camp, under the direction of Purdue
University.
Police Conyers - received permission from the Board to send one (1)
officer to the Police Fire Arms School at Indiana University, June
11-14, 1962.
The Board accepted the resignation of Police Captain Stottlemire,
effective June 13, 1962 and ordered a letter of appreciation sent
Mr. Stottlemire for his 14 years of service to the Police Depart-
ment and the City of Richmond, Ind.
Fire Chief Klotz reported that he has contacted the Home Laundry,
Leland and Wescott hotels, concerning complaints of excessive smoke
and they are making an effort to eliminate the smoke.
Mayor Cutter reported a complaint of an open ditch in the Crestdale
Sub-Division, the matter referred to the'Engineering Department
for study.
City Engineer Sherick reported that work has. been started to correct
the traffic problem at 3rd andMain St. (East)
City Engineer Sherick mooed to award the contract to construct a
sanitary sewer on Northwest 7th St. and Richmond, Ave. to the low
bidder - DeLucio & Son - 3288.40 , seconded by City Controller
Tiffany.
The Board approved a curb cut of 16 ' for a private drive way requ-
ested by Philip Reid of 1313-1317 South 10th St.
The Board approved an estimate by the Richmond Power and Light to
install three (3) Street nights on Southeast Parkway, between 27th
Street and the Henley Road.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
